Toriyama said he changed gears because he felt Gohan was a weaker choice as main characterHe originally introduced Gohan to be a foil to Goku, as having a studious bookworm son was an interesting contrast. Then in the Cell saga he wanted to freshen things up and make him the mc but ultimately realized Goku was a better main character

You gotta admit it, every 3 to 5 episodes during the Android saga, someone else became the most powerful character.
It went from Frieza to Trunks, Goku, Vegeta, 17/18, Piccolo fused with Kami, Cell, then 16, semi perfect Cell, Vegeta/Trunks post Time Chamber, Perfect Cell....then the main character Goku has Gohan win with the Father Son Kamehamaha with an assist from Vegeta.
Like I said with this whole saga, it was just up and down the whole way.
Vegeta didn't raise Trunks, Bulma spoiled him. Saiyans make their offspring fend for themselves. Bulma and her rich family screwed that up.
Just drop them off on a planet and come back in a few years. Get your lore straight.

@Inertia Creeps not to be that guy but Beast Gohan sounds a lot like Mystic Gohan who was cool for 3 episodes. Which was a lot like SS2 Gohan who was cool for 4 episodes. Do you see the pattern?

The fact that not much later Toriyama decided to make him a joke -and continues to clown on him all these years later- just goes to show you the only people that give a fukk about such a worthless characters are the stans that got fooled by a period of time Toriyama was throwing stuff at the wall

I just like how a lil nikka that doesn't even want to fight, became Super Sayain without crying like a little bytch. On the other hand, we have a grown-ass man (well, same height as the lil nikka-- who is like 11), crying like a girl because he couldn't become Super Sayain. Not only that but then the same lil nikka has to save that midgets ass, AND made him contemplate quitting all together.
Gohan doesn't get shyt because he never wanted any of that. He just wanted to chill. Despite that, he still fights cause he likes hanging out with his step-pops and his pops and surpasses them every time he takes shyt seriously. Vegeta takes it seriously 150% of the time, and gets surpassed the same day almost every time.What a loser! lmfaooooooo.
