Rome was already in shambles when G left. Mu fukka went on to destroy a city in France, Egypt and Rio too.

Here’s a few interesting notes mentioned in the Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire novel:

• GXK:TNE takes place in the year 2027.
• Shimo is at least 3 Million years old.
• Shimo's breath can slow down atoms.
• Kong has taken Doug in as his pet, recognizing his talent in keeping rodent titans out of his lair, hence why Kong tolerates Doug scavenging his wolf meal.
• Scylla’s hunger for nuclear materials caused her to go insane and she had been a thorn in Godzilla’s side for quite some time as seen in the books ‘Godzilla X Kong: The Hunted’ and ‘Godzilla Dominion.’
• Rodan is still alive and nesting in a volcano in Fiji. It has become a popular attraction for sightseers and tourists.
• A hypothesized theory that is mentioned in the book is that all Earth animals originated in the Hollow Earth.
• There’s a new Titan called Diraffe (it is currently unknown what it looks like or what powers it possesses), a beetle like Titan that eats electrical cables, and an unnamed river leech titan who are mentioned and observes in the novel.
• The red painted apes are called Red Stripes.
• Tiamat was responsible for killing many species including a species of Kong, and many other titans.
• Godzilla absorbed part of Tiamat's DNA.
• Monarch facilities are housing the remains of Mechagodzilla, with some of its components being utilized in the development of Project Powerhouse. The majority of the technology derived from MechaG, and its future use, remains shrouded in secrecy.
• Jia was chosen because she was an Iwi tribe member that was deaf, and could sense Mothra's vibrations.
• Kong can sense Godzilla and Mothra are like "family.”
• Bioacoustics suggest that the Mothra in this film is somehow the same one from G:KOTM somehow.
• Shimo is not related to Godzilla.
• Shimo was called Monster H / The Hypothetical, based on the ice found around the Earth.
• The shard that Skar King uses is implied to be part of Shimo.
• The discovery of Shimo could prompt governments to attempt to take control of Hollow Earth, which might lead to a catastrophic event.
• Kong and Shimo are now bonded allies.
• Andrews, Jia, and Bernie stay in Hollow Earth with the lwi tribe, at least for a while
• Godzilla seems to like Rome because the architecture reminds him of his old temple that got blown up in G:KOTM.
