So games mostly exclusive to playstation developed with sony money (except the one that failed commercially) and now all those studios have much bigger and successful IP post acquisition

Tsushima > Sly & Infamous
Uncharted & TLOU > Crash Bandicoot
Spider-man > Spyro and sunset overdrive

Thats exactly what nurturing and cultivating studios look like. Not buying IP

No.

That post specifically talked about “buying ip”

:stopitslime:

This is what sony does

They took something that was popular, but never had big selling games, and made it one of the biggest gaming IPs in the world and the gap in the chart is even greater now. Thats cultivating talent.

Microsoft turned down spider-man cause they wouldn’t even know what to do with it. Same thing sony will do for Wolverine.

I mean, you can write all the feel good stories you want.

Point is, Spider-man was a ready made IP for them.

Outside of that, there’s only GOT and Forgotten west.

Microsoft has “organically built” at least 2 successful franchises in that smear timeframe
