At this point in the season, it shouldn't matter to the team. They've been here before and knows what it takes to make it to the NFC Championship game. They shouldn't need extra motivation for a playoff game...especially after what happened last season.

This team is on a mission...Superbowl. All the outside noise shouldn't mean anything.

Agreed, but that being said you always see teams go on that "Nobody respects us" role and catch fire.

We've seen it with NYG just last year.

It shouldn't matter, and most times it probably doesn't, but it's clear it motivates teams at times.

Both of these teams are very different since week 1. Such is the case with any team in the NFL going from week 1 through the playoffs. I will not look at week 1 and determine the 9ers will manhandle the Pack based on that performance (and remember, even in a game where the Packers got manhandled they only lost by 8). It really can go either way. Candlestick is a tough place for a team to play and it's only going to be even worse due to the playoffs. As long as all our receivers are on the same page and Rodgers gets more than 2 seconds in the pocket I feel like we can beat San Francisco offensively. Their pass defense hasn't been very great on the backend as of late. The 9ers will need Justin Smith to go 100% and the game will be win or lost in the trenches -- that's the only way you're knocking Rodgers off his game.

As far as the Packers D vs Kaepernick, it will be a long day. Whatever happens, though, I'm ready. Whoever wins this game is Super Bowl bound.

Kaep can make some big plays, as seen in New England. I don't want a shootout though, I don't think we win a shootout at all.

We need to re-establish field position, that was one of our strong suits in 2011 and when we establish the field position are chances go up a great amount.

Can't be starting drives at our 15 too often

Well, the replacement refs gave us a gift on Cobb's punt return... there was a block in the back if you remember that didn't get called. Packers were flat out dominated that day and Alex Smith was efficient as hell even though he took some sacks and hits.

My concern with Kaep is the big play either down the field or with his legs. Webb got out and ran on the Packers a bit, I hope they prep for that element.

That Webb stuff worked early on but the Packers shut it down quick.

I wouldn't be worried too much about Kaep running, you gotta worry about Gore/LMJ

Yeah, your jumbo package got Gore off the edge easily in Week 1.

Oh and btw...

Aaron Rodgers Motivated to play 49ers - YouTube

Damn man, why you have to show me that video. Like this game doesn't have me worried enough as is.

fukk ya.

But even Gore, it's hard to rely on him at this point. In the last 5 games the most he rushed for was 83 yards. Gore broke down towards the end of the year last year, wouldn't be shocked to see it again.

As much as Rodgers denies it or plays it down these days, he will always have that "hometown favorite didn't draft me" chip on his shoulder. Will be an interesting dynamic for this game.

Funny thing is Kaepernick has the "hometown favorite who did draft him" thing going for him too.

Interesting stories to this one

Does that seem to be the trend for Gore? He turns into a completely different back in the 2nd half of the season?
