I said they should’ve let Goff’s contract play out. They still had him under contract until the end of this season on his prior contract. My point is with QBs like Goff you wait until their contract plays out then offer then a new contract. No max extensions while you still have them under contract. What team would offer Goff more than $30M per year this free agency after his performance last night?
you're just doing armchair GM hindsight. at the end of last season if you believe he was the guy then you get it over with at a lower market rate. You don't wait to see what he does one more year, causing unnecessary drama and attention then having to pay an even higher rate. No team is letting a guy putting up top 10 numbers who just took them to the NFCCG play out his entire contract. With the success you're now too good to get a high draft pick for a rookie also. You lock him up.

Plus Giants had already given Jones 40M/yr the year before too so the floor was already set.

So again if you believe he's the guy then why wait? Mind you you'll have a lot of other guys on the team to start extending soon as well.

Beal is the worst of those because they gave a max to a guy that gets you 18 pts and injured all the time with a no trade clause.

I can understand a NFL team going all out for a decent QB because it makes or breaks your team. But the Suns crashed out for a number 3 at best on a title team.

And I'm a Wizards fan, Beal was my guy lol.

The Rams sucked for over a dozen years before Goff helped restore relevancy. The Lions sucked forever with the alleged "great QB" McVay replaced him with, until Goff showed up...

Most QBs are average without strong support. Goff's track record spans two locations and two coaches and two systems. Variety of different skill talent around him, the receivers he had in LA weren't special. But Goff was the QB...

Yall gotta stop undervaluing the role he's played in his team's successes...
Those teams ran thru Todd Gurley though, Goff was just a supporting piece

They should’ve offered him a lower contract last year and said they could revisit it next year depending on how he performs. They still would’ve been offering him longer-term security.

Nobody called him a supporting piece during that record-setting MNF game in '18, or during '18 period. He was viewed as one of the next big things...

People turned on Goff after the '18 Super Bowl and because McVay went on a shadow campaign against his own QB for like 3 years straight, and McVay has a ton of friends in NFL media...

Those teams did run thru Gurley but it's disrespectful to say Goff was merely a supporting piece...

Occam's Razor...it's not disrespectful when his performance = narrative = Rams discarding him [Everything aligns that he was a supporting piece]

Goff was an extension of McVay. The nikka literally had to have his reads made for him pre-snap, where they had to line up early enough for him to tell him on the comms. He has improved since those days, but those Rams were always considered a McVay product

Norfeast groovin…
It’s like when everyone on Dragonball Z could turn Super Saiyan. The market should be dictating that these players aren’t max worthy but the thirst of these trash GMs and owners is what makes this possible.

Also giving money to old and injured players...I don't know why franchise still fall for this non sense. There are very few max players in the league. LeBron, Curry, Jokic, Giannies are max players. lol u got scrub like paul george getting max lol
Simple.

find a player who will give you similar production at a much cheaper price and keeps you employed.

if it was as easy as you think it is, the middle class would never get paid.
