That’s such a low bar lol. The past two seasons speaks more to how bad the Lions have been.
The path is clear that these pocket QBs don't have the ceiling high enough to beat the best of the best. Even Burrow couldn't finish the job and he's the epitome of the current QBs that the media wants.
My Browns had the right outlook to get the type of QB necessary to get the chip (Watson), but I fear they're circling the wagons to let Stefanski get the pocket QB he's been craving for. Maybe Shaduer is the perfect mix, but I think he'll balk at coming to Cleveland
Coulda woulda shouldaGoff has a superbowl if he doesnt play the GOAT coach
I swear in sports , the above average and good players get paid the most . The real elite /top of line guys always take pay cuts etc.
Or you could look at it Goff doesn’t make it to the Super Bowl if he doesn’t have all those pieces surrounding him and an elite coach. Goff led an offense to 3 points in a Super Bowl. WTF. McVay wanted to swap him for Stafford and ended up winning a Super Bowl for a reason.
Don’t forget they legit have an argument for benefiting from the worst call in NFL history The league actually tried* to change the rules because of how egregious it wasGoff has a superbowl if he doesnt play the GOAT coach
The Rams sucked for over a dozen years before Goff helped restore relevancy. The Lions sucked forever with the alleged "great QB" McVay replaced him with, until Goff showed up...
Most QBs are average without strong support. Goff's track record spans two locations and two coaches and two systems. Variety of different skill talent around him, the receivers he had in LA weren't special. But Goff was the QB...
Yall gotta stop undervaluing the role he's played in his team's successes...
Unless you're Patrick Mahommes then literally every QB falls in this camp.Yeah nobody is saying Goff is a scrub. The problem is he’s heavily reliant on supporting skill players and

It's no secret. QB is most important position in football so there's just a higher premium by default because it's so hard to find.
This dude had you winning the division and winning in the playoffs for the first time in decades. took your team within 30 minutes of a Superbowl appearance last year.
So you refuse to pay more than 30 mil. There would've been multiple teams last offseason ready to pay him more than that. You let him walk and then do what? last offseason your choices were the likes of Cousins Brissett or Minshew. Roll the dice on some 2nd round rookie? You think you're going back tot he NFCCG with that?
Go ahead and waste the precious window of rookie contracts of all that pro-bowl all-pro level talent you have too.

The Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins, Bradley Beal tier of athletes shouldn’t be paid more than $30M per year or 60% of the max. They always fold when you need them the most. Everything else around them needs to be elite to have a chance. And the contract you give them has to be manageable so they can be traded or released with minimal repercussions.
