THT has the potential to be a solid wing defender (7'1" wingspan). To me thats more important than a spot minutes 5. Bamba has been in the league 3 years and what exactly has he shown you? And he's yet another terrible ft shooter


I think the "we need a 5 " is starting to get a bit overstated in here. Lakers have the Number 1 defense in the league. Closing time in the playoffs AD will be at the 5 with Bron and Trez/Keiff on the court. Last year Dwight and McGee combined for 24mpg in the playoffs and were out for numerous games due to matchups. None of the real contending teams are paint scoring machines. You need people that can slow down wings and point guards. Only way you should make a serious move for a 5 is if you dont think AD is coming back this season, or wont be himself. Otherwise, just grab someone off the scrap heap that can play 8-10 minutes.

I think they still need another 5 just to deal with Jokic. We saw last year over them first few games how Jokic was murdering the Lakers in the minutes that Dwight or Javele were out of the game. Either Jokic would score easily or force the double and start picking the Lakers apart with his passing. Between that and if they made it to the finals against Philly I think that another true 5 would be essential. But I'm with you in that I don't want to see them trade rotation players for that five. Wait to see what the buyout market looks like.
