Just finished this season. Actually it is one of the stronger ones. As annoying as Hannah is on the show and Lena Dunham is in real life, I think this series is very underrated. In the PC environment that we live in, this series exposes the worst of the ultra left wing culture that is rampant in major liberal cities. Damn near every girl I meet says they can't stand this show, but I feel it's because there is a truth none of them want to admit to. The spoiled, pretentious, and entitlement are off the charts.
For the men on the show, this season seemed to show some growth. We have Ray who is running his shop via his discipline and work ethic. However, he lacks the creativity to find his niche in the coffee world as the competition moves in and takes his lunch. Shosh comes in at the end of the season and saves the day after her hiatus in Japan where she finally finds herself. I see this happen often with people they try to run from their current problems by adopting another culture or something to fill in dealing with their real issues. Though she does act like a kid on the surface, she is probably the most disciplined out of her friends when she finds something she can actually do.
Adam is getting some success in his career now that he's away from Hannah. But at the end of the season his old emotional habits get the best of him. Despite his outrage, I like how he put his foot down with Jessa and told her what he wants and what he doesn't. If Adam had no distractions in his life, he would be able to get shyt done. We see how dedicated he was to taking care of his sisters baby during those few episodes.
Marnie though still in her make believe world most of the season, seems to have come to a point where reality is setting in. She realizes Desi is a male diva and she doesn't want to be with him. She then has that brief flash with her ex boyfriend that has become a junkie. Every decision she makes seems to end bad. By the end of the season, she comes back to the one constant consistent man she knows which is Ray. She doesn't seem to be terribly in love with him, but she knows he is a dependable solid guy.
Hannah's real issue at this point is she doesn't want to put in work. She has enough content to write her books, but she always finds some excuse to get caught up in something that takes her time. I will say that dude Fran she was with is a square. It's probably one of the few times I agree with her fukking up a situation. Fran is the type of guy that wants everything to be by the book. While he seems regular on the surface, there is a narcissistic undertone to him that wants to be seen by others as being a model person. Hannah will never fit into that lifestyle .
