I'm a sap. Plus I love the dialogue. It's the main reason I got into the show.

That's funny because the dialogue is one of the things I don't like about the show.

I appreciate the performances and the ability to say all of that stuff, but having a character quickly say 5 full sentences when one or two would have sufficed just feels like a corny writer trying to stunt or some shyt.

I peeped the first 3 minutes or so to see what the hype was about, got mad when they name dropped Omar instead of Stringer, D'Angelo or Avon (who actually used burners) and went back to being a person who doesn't watch Gilmore Girls lol. I know that's nitpicking but if you're gonna reference my shyt, get it somewhat right :lolbron:

I can feel you on that, but I have a preference for writers who disappear into worlds and imbue different stories with their quality, rather than writers whose style and pacing is the same no matter what world the story takes place in.

Sorkin is dope, but it doesn't matter what Sorkin is writing about, it sounds like Sorkin, and that can be distracting when like me (and I think you) are interested in who's writing. That's why I'm a David Simon > Sorkin dude.

Sorkin shows feel like vehicles for his POV at that given time, whereas Simon shows feel like a journalist (which he is/was) diving into a topic/subject/place then coming up for air with a deep and invested piece of work.

I know a lot of people didn't like Treme because it wasn't The Wire, but that's exactly what I loved about it. It felt like a story by a dude who went to New Orleans on vacation, then said fukk it, left his life behind and moved there.

I gotta be honest, this show was kind of a guilty pleasure for me, my daughter was a fan but I used to watch with her after work. It was snapilly written and well acted. It really toed the line between comedy and drama and wasn't too sappy. I'd watch the 1st 3 seasons again.

Breh I probably would. Even as I was writing that I was like "Oh, shyt, I'm definitely more Sorkin than Simon" but I think it's harder to be Simon. #goals I guess lol

Well it's a style choice. You have to write in your voice and that's definitely my voice. I don't make all of my characters sound like that though but my main character normally does and the dialogue exchanges are always like that. But not all of my characters are witty and quick. I've found that it's best to withhold that kinda stuff for characters who suit it rather than putting square holes in round pegs. But my main characters are all extensions of me so by nature they talk like me
