Contrary to popular belief, Houston did right by Harden his entire tenure there. Even if broke boi owner had never bought the team, they were still going to be screwed anyways as they didn't have the players or assets to get better anymore.

If you literally think they (KD, Kyrie and Harden) went there just to win championships, then you're naive and a liar. Them cats going there was literally going to create hype and expectations for those guys and the team being the face of the league and it'd be disingenuous to insist otherwise.

They went there because they wanted to play together on their terms. Like this was the first time Kyrie was a free agent because everything before the Nets was off of the rookie extension contract the same summer Bron went back to the Cavs. KD wanted to play with Kyrie but remember all star game that year when their conversation in the tunnel was leaked also the weird moves by the Knicks that made it look like the deal was done until the KP trade made up even more space on the team. KD getting hurt put how great the Nets could be back a year or even more if he didn’t come back as good as he looked. This season they traded for Harden because it was better to have him then to not have him especially considering that Tillman didn’t want to give him to Morey who was running the 76ers now. Tillman didn’t even offer MDA a contract extension and that caused beef then Morey’s China shyt. If one of those two doesn’t happen then Harden is still on the Rockets and maybe they swing and get someone else to play with Harden or keep Russ.

Like these last couple of years have seen guys making 35 mill and up a year get traded like nothing
