Ghost has said out of his own mouth that 'Impossible' is one of the best/ favourite verses he's ever written. It also won Hip Hop Quotable in The Source, when The Source meant something. :manny:

They could do a whole bracket with just Ghostface story rhymes at this point.:wow:
I remember when the album dropped and The Source put that verse in the back of the mag. I always loved reading artist's winning verse every month back in the day.

Dope dope series. BDot is a way better rap personality than Elliot and 99% of these nikkas. Hope he blow up.

And ye no Scarface is the main fukkup. Him, Nas, Cube, Big, G Rap, Ghost in they own lane here for me. Slick always deserves a mention but he like a Bob Cousy to me. He the OG and pioneered that style but alot nikkas done it better to me. Jay got some cool storytellin tracks but he aint need to be on here.

Undying Love is alltime but Ghost knew he fukk up not picking nikkas Bleed.

i get tired of the "vivid storytelling" measurement, as the end all be all to some of these dumb hip hop fans idea of what storytelling is in rap.

Rappers are oral storytellers, theres more to "oral storytelling" then just that, message, and emotional impact play a huge part to.

During his little beef with 50 even 50 gave him props. He was describing the regional differences and said some shyt like:

"When I'm in the West I have to compete based on a vibe, in the South based on the beat, but then when I'm in New York I have to compete with rappers who tell stories backwards like Nas. I have to think of all these things when making an album"
what 50 said was dumb
its such a elitist east coast bias view. implying like Rewind and unique creative concepts like it are a dime a dozen for NY rappers. Man, Bull shyt.:mjlol:

Theres a reason it took Nas to finally do it, and none other over there

NVM that NY has been one of the most 1 note cities for a while. With it almost constantly being repped by Money, clothes, hoes/ and Gangsta rappers covering the same ideas and relatively the same concepts since LL cool J's decline. So portraying that NY is full of these super high creative guys like Nas, man FOH 50.

Meanwhile LA has been repped by various type of acts be the face of their city( from gangsta with Game to introspective and poetic with Kendrick), ATL(Outkast, Luda, Jeezy/), Chicago( Alt/semi concious with Kanye, Alternative with Lupe, gangsta with Herbo) also has for the past 25 years.

and thinking that West, and South rappers dont have to "think all these things" when making a album aint true at all espescially with albums like Death Certificate, Me Against the world, The Diary, ATLiens,

I don’t like that Scarface is on it or that Ghost’s prolly most recognizable storytelling song and one of the most recognizable in rap didn’t make the cut. But even Scarface himself feels that way about Rewind. Lol

It’s weird cause B Dot usually pretty on point. This was one of the worst selections. I’m not mad at Rewind winning it tho because that was genius shyt right there but still.

Face top 3, top 5 in storytelling. He a master but Nas is better. Probably Big and Cube too IMO. Face right there with em too and G Rap.

One Love
I Gave You Power
Blaze a 50
Drunk By Myself
Purple
2nd Childhood
Fetus
Undying Love
Amongst Kings
NYSOM 1 and 2
Surviving the Times
Get Down
Rewind
Suspect
The Set Up
Shootouts
A Queen's Story
Black Girl Lost

Like I said Face up there with anyone but he not as nuanced, creative or versatile as Nas wit em joints. And Nas did em consistently from all POVs 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person. Face branches out but topically he more refined and one dimensional.

shyt you could make a double album of Nas storytelling tracks and damn near every track would be a 5 mic track.

Ghost saying Nas surely didn’t write that in a day. Funnily enough on MasterClass Nas said it was one of the quickest rhymes he ever wrote. He was struggling to think of what to write, heard the beat from Large Pro then just starting writing a song backwards.

No

and im a huge cube/Nas fan, but same as the rest they lack/or rather not as good the emotional impact that Face has. they have the message aspect but emotional side is important in oral storytelling

Are you fukkin serious with this stupid shyt, you must be skimming thru face's music. Because he has done everything from concept storytelling(Im dead), street shyt(A minute to pray) to about stages in life(Seen a man die) to emotional stories which Nas could never do (His verse on Cant be life) On top of doing them in all sorts of POVs

and you gon sit here and say hes one dimensional:dahell:?

Boy if you dont get your ass the fukk outta here:mjlol:
