Lemme guess, they tried to act like Slick Rick didn't or barely exists? Not even clicking, I can tell from the posts this shyt will just piss me off.

No G Rap? Comedy?

To be fair they had to pick 16 songs to start with, it's not some huge series where they're breaking down the top 100 storytelling songs. I think they could have had better picks from some of the artists they had. Ice Cube is one of the best storytellers in Hip Hop and they only chose Today Was a Good Day where I thought something like Ghetto Vet or Summer Vacation would have been a better choice, especially for someone like Ghost. But they did a decent enough job IMO I was surprised Ghost went as far as he did with Em, can't believe he chose Stan over Slick Rick tho.

List is kinda suspect. shyt I'd put Pac's "I Ain't Mad Atcha" way up there for the simple fact that in two verses he's able to completely describe two complex lifelong relationships in a beautiful way. :wow:

But really the funniest thing is low key everybody knows that the GOAT story telling song is Uncommon Valour by R.A The Rugged Man

None of the shyt anybody posted in here is touching that AT ALL...but he a underground cac so he don't count I guess.

Most emcees is gonna pick Rewind fam. That shyt is like the pinnacle right there.
During his little beef with 50 even 50 gave him props. He was describing the regional differences and said some shyt like:

"When I'm in the West I have to compete based on a vibe, in the South based on the beat, but then when I'm in New York I have to compete with rappers who tell stories backwards like Nas. I have to think of all these things when making an album"

That song is dope but I wouldn't put it as THE best storytelling song EVER in Hip Hop. They're not gonna put RA on a Complex list tho cmon breh

I still think they dumb for not picking All That I Got Is You. I mean it’s Ghost’s most famous storytelling track.

I'm watching the producer/rapper one now with Russ. This c*nt can't choose the right thing o save his life. Chose Tyler over DJ Quik and Missy Elliot over Q-Tip :snoop: and holy fukk I think he's about to pick Big KRIT over RZA :mindblown:

Wish they had Tearz instead of Impossible and Mind Playin Tricks on Me somewhere but I love ghost and its dope hearing what he thinks about anything

Ghost has said out of his own mouth that 'Impossible' is one of the best/ favourite verses he's ever written. It also won Hip Hop Quotable in The Source, when The Source meant something. :manny:

They could do a whole bracket with just Ghostface story rhymes at this point.:wow:

Yeah I know, you're not gonna see any non mainstream artist on a Complex list. It is what it is.

Not having My Mind Playing Tricks On Me is blasphemy though
