I tip but I hate places with auto-gratuity

At this one spot we were only a party of 3 and waited over 30 minutes for a bucket of beer and constantly had to stop other servers walking to ask for shyt. It felt like a slap in the face when I got the bill and saw 18% gratuity added

don’t be a shytty waitress

I don’t tip unless I get good/great service. :yeshrug: If I had to eat half my meal with the dry mouth because he/she kept forgetting to refill my drink, I’m supposed to tip him/her as ‘good job’?

stay home.

thanks for the pocket watching. Im sure that yields you happiness.

i clearly wrote i pay 20% no matter the service usually. And you somehow got it that i am doing a disservice to the fine people in the hospitality industry.

man. the short-bus iq in this shyt is staggering.
dumb babble. if you can't afford to go out don't go out. I was speaking to you suggesting that broke people shouldn't tip. nah they shouldn't go out if they can't afford it. stop it b :stopitslime:

I don’t think people realize this. The owners and society has deemed it acceptable to pay waiters $2-$3 an hour and pass the buck on to the customer:skip:

To anyone who disagrees, im being serious, how
Is it not the responsibility of the owner as opposed to the customer to pay the employees? :skip:
disingenuous argument because when minimum wage talks come up you often see the hate and pro business talk from the average person.

if your society is constructed in a way where people are depending on tips in restaurant industry you can't just say it's on the employers then continue supporting restaurants by eating there knowing they underpay workers. then also fail to support wage increase legislation.

the owners and society has deemed it acceptable... yes customers are part of society :deadmanny:both passing the buck like a hockey game back n forth.

Americans are sheep and mad insecure. Tipping is sorta way to "distinguish" yourself from others or look down on those who don't.

Why is the restaurant industry the only one where the public is expected to subsidize business owners responsibilities of competitive wages while they laugh their way to the bank?

There are people out there working way harder for way less than restaurant workers where is the cry about tips for them? In other industries If a business owner can't pay a competitive wage then they would go without good employees or none at all. That's how capitalism is intended to work, why are restaurant owners special.

I tip 20% even when the service was not great just because I dont want to make black people look bad. I've been told by several black waiters that black people are terrible tippers especially the women. A black chick told me she dreaded waiting tables with black women because they expect everything but will tip nothing. Also said waiting tables for Jewish women is just as bad.
Anybody who’s served in a restaurant will tell you that’s sadly the truth. Listen to the nikkas ITT. Sorry but this ain’t Europe or whatever country y’all nikkas don’t go to anyways. That’s the culture there. We tip here. Keep your ass at home if you don’t want to participate

I hate to say it but it's lowkey true. But mainly for poor people and some happen to be black. They don't eat out as much and it takes a while for them to learn tipping etiquette. At least this is my experience :hubie:
Bro, I went out with a group of 5 ppl to eat. The separate checks come around, everybody paid but nobody tipped:dahell:

As we all walked out, I left $25 on the table for the waitress, who was real nice.

I tip between 15-20% in most cases. Every now and then, I mat tip more or less than the standard.

As for that other people so? Not my issues nor business.

As for servers, I wish they stop scapegoating Black patrons over this shyt because granted, there are Black patrons that don't tip or under tip, but the same could be said about no -Black patrons as well.

Servers need to understand that regardless of whether they receive the type of tips they feel they deserve or not, that their number one peioety is to provide satisfactory and/or above satisfactory service. They already know when they took the job what comes with it.

On a slightly unrelated note, I went to Red Lobster on Sunday and the waiter (non-Black) was telling me that they are overwhelmingly understaffed. Their msnsgment team quit and out of 30 servers they had pre-Covid, only 9 are left. He went o to further state that Red Lobster attempted to call back the other ex workers, but they all refused to come back.

Lastly, dude was saying that he doesn't get breaks. He knows it is against the law, but he said that he just deals with it that he is young. He also said that Red Lobster is willing to take the fine for work condition violation than to honor the law.

Red Lobster need to do a better job of providing better working conditions. I think the server said he gotta interview with another restaurant chain (Longhorn steakhouse), so Red Lobster may be down to 8 servers. Young dude was rather friendly and professional. He is also one of their bartenders and didn't even charge me for the alcoholic drink.

I gave him a decent tip, maybe a lil over the standard.

none surprising. Yarmulke gang be sliding like a mufukka with this shyt. Glad you pointed it out. :mjpls:

but I overtip as well, 15% at worst. If you black, you gettin at least 20%.

Restaurants purposely send their black waiting staff over to our tables for this reason.

i think customers get off having "power" and feel important in these situations being able to "boss" the waiter/waitress around. :yeshrug:

having hunnid dollar bills and 5 dollar tips for all the shyt some of our people like to pull is embarassing.

Tipping is culture for the service industry in America. In the past you tipped everyone from the person that bagged your groceries to the person that worked at the hotel
