I tip between 15-20% in most cases. Every now and then, I mat tip more or less than the standard.
As for that other people so? Not my issues nor business.
As for servers, I wish they stop scapegoating Black patrons over this shyt because granted, there are Black patrons that don't tip or under tip, but the same could be said about no -Black patrons as well.
Servers need to understand that regardless of whether they receive the type of tips they feel they deserve or not, that their number one peioety is to provide satisfactory and/or above satisfactory service. They already know when they took the job what comes with it.
On a slightly unrelated note, I went to Red Lobster on Sunday and the waiter (non-Black) was telling me that they are overwhelmingly understaffed. Their msnsgment team quit and out of 30 servers they had pre-Covid, only 9 are left. He went o to further state that Red Lobster attempted to call back the other ex workers, but they all refused to come back.
Lastly, dude was saying that he doesn't get breaks. He knows it is against the law, but he said that he just deals with it that he is young. He also said that Red Lobster is willing to take the fine for work condition violation than to honor the law.
Red Lobster need to do a better job of providing better working conditions. I think the server said he gotta interview with another restaurant chain (Longhorn steakhouse), so Red Lobster may be down to 8 servers. Young dude was rather friendly and professional. He is also one of their bartenders and didn't even charge me for the alcoholic drink.
I gave him a decent tip, maybe a lil over the standard.
