Something I've been thinking, please need feedback, as these are just thoughts.

But as a Sierra Leonean i was shocked how shiit weve become at agriculture. I really feel like there's opportunities for Black farmers and Agriculturalist from the Diaspora.

With all these projects there's opportunities for Mechanical Engineers, Architectures, Tech Industries.

Tourism, instead of buying that House over here. Buy property turn into small resort, B&B.

Nature Tourism is another one.

People shut out the Marijuana industry. Some countries want to get involve. Do the research.

I'm gonna try and provide as much info as I can.

I’m really considering this. This is a source of conflict between me and my wife. I want to look into this but she is completely against it. I have a few years to convince her because I wouldn’t be doing this for at least another 5 years.

You're going to probably have to set up a trip to show her that they are normal people like we are over here....If you haven't been already.

seriously looking into this. may buy some acres and build an off grid homestead.

If you buy land in Ghana look into land rights dispute issues since there are often issues where people will claim the same plots due to some ancestral land system. Source: I worked briefly with a small farm and Ghana and had a friend that worked there on those issues

We are going next year if everything with covid clears up. I’m also looking into Gambia. It not so much she is against Ghana or Gambia itself. It is that she don’t want to be so far from her parents and brothers.

There was a thread the other day on Morgan State linking up with a University in Ghana mostely centered on tech, cloud computing, etc.
I said then that another school (FAMU) should step up on an agricultural exchange.

Modern agriculture is large scale commercial agriculture which requires a lot of financing (equipment, seed) and you know who often dominates that, especially in Southern and Eastern Africa, due to getting land and financing :mjpls:

If you want to help Africa in agriculture, study modern techniques including sustainable fertilizer, pesticides, selective breeding, and genetics/chemistry. You could be huge. Indians were starting to move into Ghana farming when I was last there so I hope we don't lose the plot again

I know most everybody knows that it's not going to be the United States when you move over there, but it's not about you being super comfortable and complacent at this point. It's about your kids and grandkids future. And for those that do move over there, they can help inspire improvements to Ghana's society. People are just real selfish these days. Somebody has to put in work.

Ghana is cool stuff, also see this thread in the Root:
Which African country would you move to given the chance?

I would move there at the right opportunity for my family, but Ghana is a developing country. People who want to move there need to get used to a few basic things:

1. Electricity is spotty and many large single family residences (or communities) have diesel backups so this is an extra expense
2. Water can go out sometimes too due to pump failures or power loss
3. We all are Black but you do start out as foreigners, learning a language like Twi (even some) can help but you need to find a circle of Ghanian friends to support you
4. Bring a skill or find out something the local economy needs. Ghana needs industry and commerce, not more people warming seats at a NGO
5. You will need vaccines like yellow fever and anti-malarials. A young AA sister who was a doctor died soon after I left Ghana from cerebral malaria. Be careful.
6. Land and living is cheap but a lot of items are expensive due to having to be imported. Supplying these locally could make you rich (see #4)

I'm not saying this to discourage anyone. I love Ghana and I HIGHLY recommend traveling there (those slave castles man:to: ). But a lots of AAs will not do research or visit, have a dreamy idea, and then not deal with reality well and then sometimes even start shytting on the locals. Not a recipe for success.
