Also there’s the issue of brain drain from places like SA. When someone reaches a certain level of education, they high tail it to China, Dubai, UK, USA and several more “westernized” countries. If you’re well off and don’t mind taking a severe cut in pay, it may be an avenue worth traveling down. I know a professor at NYU who teaches Jan - Aug and goes back home for the winter. The $$ she makes has her living the sweet life back home.

there was a doc about AfAm’s moving to SA but their only intentions were of a capitalistic nature. Not really entrenching themselves in the culture of the country and that part is what I don’t want to see come from this. If it is, you’re no different than these vulture whites and Chinese

Thats the one country in Africa I would never advise anyone to invest in

No nikka. Their only intention (stated at that) was to maximize their profits since it was an untapped market. One sista even says she plays up the whole slave trade. Wish I could find it. I know someone posted it in my thread when I moved to SA.

Oh, so we're NOT expected to perform capitalism like everybody else? I thought that was a selling point.

You are thinking Blacks without Borders. Granted, there was a breh that was doing non-profit work in the townships to help young people. I think the ex-doctor guy was the one that was hardcore "fukk you pay me". But starting a business should be part of the plan. If we don't, the others will.

If i invest in Africa, what must i do to defend my investment?

Basically you can't be an absentee landlord/owner. I know someone (Ghanian) that tried to remote run a farm 6 months on/6 months off relying on relatives when he wasn't around. Doesn't work. You gotta be there to deal with it all.

You implying my thoughts about the whole thing comes from a place of fear? I'm just playing Devil's Advocate with the topic at hand (like I already stated). Don't get it twisted.
the first line was directed toward you. the rest of the post was a general statement.

I looked on a real estate site and the nicer homes are 500,000 plus. You can get a pos for bout 80

Where and for what market?

This is what you have to get on African real estate. There is a lot of cheap, modestly priced stuff for the local middle class and then a hugely expensive market in the hot areas for the local elite and foreign expats whose companies/NGOs foot the bill. They usually come with amenities like backup power generation and backup water towers/tanks as well as security.

Also, Cape Coast that @Lucky_Lefty refers too isn't a hot spot like the popular/wealthy parts of Accra. You can live really well really cheap in Cape Coast, Sekondi/Takoradi or Kumasi (if you don't mind being inland).

What you know about the northern areas of Ghana and eastern bordering on Togo?

Unless you have a good set up, basically this

Im in Nigeria about 3 months out the year , UK 3 months , and the rest of the year in other places , but I can get away with that because I have family and the right people looking after my interests .... but previously being absentee Ive lost a ton of money
