They both have average resumes to me.

Both of their best wins are arguably robberies (Lara & Jacobs), which leads to the best clear win for them is Austin Trout & David Lemieux...not exactly the toughest opposition:jbhmm:

This fight is going to officially stamp one or the other as better...as long as there's no controversies
I always regarded Trout higher than Lemieux
Actually think Canelo's win over Cotto is also better than beating Lemieux. I'd probably pick Cotto to outbox and beat Lemieux even now.

Lara and Jacobs were not arguable robberies imo just close fights which could go either way although I had Canelo clearly as the winner on a close fight.
I'd say the Lara win is more impressive cause that fight was close on paper, the odds weren't as far from each other whereas Jacobs was a huge underdog who was supposed to have a glass chin and etc... the narrative on Jacobs changed drastically after the Golovkin fight. Before the fight he was a "glass chinned bum who's gonna get steamrolled" after the fight he became an "elite mw who was significantly bigger than Golovkin and he'd beat Canelo too."
Jacobs really proved that he's better than many thought but Lara was regarded high even before the Canelo fight.
Add that Lara was/is pretty much the nightmare matchup for Canelo which makes that win even more impressive to me.

GGG's Daniel Jacobs & David Lemieux are = to Canelo's Erislandy Lara & Austin Trout.

1 of them are going to be officially stamped as elite, and the other is going to have to discuss their suspect resume bc GGG cant have a clear loss to Canelo & a controversial win over Danny Jacobs as his best W, followed by David Lemieux....but still retain the aura of an elite fighter imo.
Trout is a crafty, skilled vet who still gives all kind of fighters fits... he just recently had a close fight with Jermall Charlo.
Lemieux is a once over hyped, crude puncher.

Trout is looking more and more like willie Monroe jr:ld:

I don't even know if canelo can beat him.

Also David would leave cottos jaw in the concession center.

As far as Danny, it's not his fault that many drank the koolaid and assumed everyone in the middleweight division was trash.

Also Danny did rise to the occasion and fight a good fight.

Breh rewatch that Lara fight and tell me how can u win a fight with only landing 13 head shots the whole fight??:mindblown:

Canelo has a slightly better resume than GGG, because he fought bigger names, but I think GGG fought the bigger threats when you compare the two.

A guy like Curtis Stevens who was on a decent run before the GGG sonning is more of threat than nikkas like Khan, Smith, Angulo, Baldomier, Shane etc....

A C level boxer that is a knockout puncher that is in his prime will always be more dangerous than a smaller shop worn B level guy that had better days in the past.

For me, if Canelo loses, being 1-2 in your 3 biggest fights...with a controversial win over Lara as his best win, and having your best clear win being over Austin Trout (and that was controversial as well) is :ld:.

For me, if GGG loses, having your best win being only a controversial win over Jacobs, and your best clear win is over David Lemieux is:ld:

This is a must win for both of them imo

Who did Stevens beat when he was on that 'run?' :francis:

At least Angulo had just come from nearly knocking Lara out. At least Khan didn't jump from WW to 160 like Brook did. Canelo was only 20 and 22 when he fought 'shopworn' Baldomir and Mosley. Clearly they weren't in their prime, but isn't that the way an up and comer is supposed to be brought up? Y'all discredit Trout but everyone was saying Canelo wouldn't face him, as was the same story with Lara, Mayweather, and now, Golvkin.:ld:

Golovkin has never fought under middleweight, it doesn't make any sense to pit fighters who fought at 154-155 against a man who has shown an unwillingness to go below 160.

It's always the same story in the Canelo-GGG saga. One man is forgiven for never moving up, and the other is scrutinized heavily for not moving up soon enough; to fight at a class above his optimal weight.

But yes. I think Canelo beats everyone Golovkin has faced. Even Jacobs.

lol I wish canelo was as confident as u.

If canelo could he would have fought them already and PROVED he was better. The same way floyd and manny fought the same opponents.

Instead canelo was too scared and wouldn't move from 155 and fight small guys. Too shook to fight true middleweights but fought at the middleweight wieght.

Imagine triple g fighting at 161, u would be all over that.

Can u even defend him for fighting at 155 for YEARS??

bosses do what they want, suckas do what they can.:umad:

Canelo said fukk it, first fight north of Canelo weight is gonna be at 164, and now he's going at the mw boogeyman.

First of all, how did Canelo end up fighting above 160 before Golovkin did?:heh:

Secondly, how you gonna question canelo's confidence when he skipped over everyone at the weight and is headed straight into a fight with Golovkin?:dahell:

Canelo does what he wants, Golovkin does what he can.:ohlawd:

it's still the #cartel u beezy:banderas:
