She's backed by toxic fandom. Nobody want's to deal with that.
Kyrie was left off the team for reasons other than basketball as well, even they he's by far better than some of the guards selected.
Clark isn't more accomplished than anyone on the roster and he's never played live games or practiced with them.
And if the WNBA played their regular season the same time as everyone else, maybe she would've not only been added, but got a chance to play before her regular season starts.
She's not one of the best 12 players. It's really that simple. The Olympic squad is not for publicity stunts or charity cases. It should be for the people who earn it. The absolute best.
The people complaining about TV ratings and growing the game don't care about the WNBA. We shouldn't have to cater to their every whim. They can wait 4 years, I guarantee CC will still be around.

She's just not one of the 12 best right now. It's okay. She's an elite shooter, but also a defensive liability. She doesn't have a better case than any of the 12 going to Paris.
You can make the argument that Team USA women's basketball is the toughest national team to make in any sport, male or female.
