First, I don't know what you're referring to when you say "the left coalition", because actual leftists weren't in charge of the Harris campaign. Not trying to relitigate recent history, but the fact of the matter is that the Harris campaign was controlled by centrist Democrats who purposely and explicitly chose to alienate the political left and court the center and center-right. That's the campaign and coalition that lost to Trump. The 5-D chess argument is a typical left-bashing canard used by crypto-conservatives, but it doesn't even apply here because the people on the left that you're mad at were operating with complete binary reasoning by holding genocide as a red line. Either oppose genocide to get my support or continue supporting genocide and lose my support. No 5-D chess. No hifalutin, esoteric, multifarious request. Just pledge to stop sending arms to the people committing a genocide. That's as binary as it gets, and used to be considered the lowest of bars, but this election proved that many people within and in charge of the Democratic coalition have completely desiccated moral (and political!) compasses. nikkas want a faceless madden create a player to use as “a vessel” for progressive politics while ignoring that vessel needs to appeal to 75+ million people. I don't know what you mean by "Overton window center" in this context. Overton Window is a public discourse and ideas concept, it doesn't translate to a voting political coalition.

I agree that Kamala most likely would not be reportedly preparing to saction the ICC. And I'm sure her ambassador wouldn't have been so vulgar in their rejection of Palestinian existence, but given she selected and deployed campaign surrogates who didn't acknowledge the existence of Palestine and ran the most anti-Palestinian Presidential campaign in the history of the Democratic Party, I don't think her choice would represent any practical or material difference from Trump's on this matter. And it seems like complete fantasy to believe that she wouldn't also be sending unrestricted arms to Israel like Biden has been doing and like Trump is pledging to continue doing, given that this was the primary request of her from the anti-war left coalition during the campaign and she failed to meet that moment at every turn. If she couldn't commit to doing so during the campaign when she was facing the most pressure to take that position and could have received the most benefit from doing so, I see absolutely no reason to believe she would have used political capital on that when she became President.

The vast majority of leftists, anti-war activists, and pro-Palestinian activists came to the same conclusion that Kamala would be better for Palestine than Trump. The leftists in HL were saying so all along. The people who couldn't think two steps ahead were the centrists ideologues who couldn't understand why choosing to run a genocide vs genocide+ campaign was a horribly unappealing strategy for getting people to come out and support the Democratic nominee, and that people of moral persuasion have red lines. You don't have to believe Trump winning is a better outcome to abstain from voting for a genocide. Conscientious objectors don't have to believe their nation's enemy winning is a better outcome to abstain from joining the war.

The calculus you mention is simple to people who can only view the genocide of Palestinians as a political/electoral issue instead of a moral issue.
