Voice of God?
Elon gon let it drop that he thinks he's god one of these days. The man has delusions of grandeur and the American people have given him the keys.
Nah that's not what the journo meant.

When the negotiations stalled Musk tweeted "Vox populi, vox dei" which means "The voice of the people is the voice of god" in latin.

It's a populist saying (in Europe ?) which wrongfully indicates that as a politician/leader, you should follow what the people want.

I say wrongful because the orignal meaning is actually the total opposite.
Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit
Meaning broadly "Never listen to those who keep saying that the voice of the people is the voice of god because the tumultuous nature of the crowd is always close to insanity"

But I'm not gonna blame Musk on that one, it's Machiavel who gave the meaning a 180 and people have been using the new one since then.

Elon is moving like a movie villian right now. His wealth is one of the most dangerous things to legit freedom around the world. He's funding and/or helping to organize far right movements. He's enroute to become not just the Hitler of America, but the planet. And he's got the money, or will be handed the money by America.

And that's not even factoring in the plans of his PayPal mafia homies, up to, and including Project 2025

He’s about to learn the hard way that politics ain’t business. For a person who has built his empire on sand, he would have been better off staying in food and beverage.

Elon and his friends are moving kinda silly in my opinion. The rich have manipulated American politics throughout history but most like to remain in the shadows or are only known to those who follow political finance closely (i.e. Koch Brothers, Harlan Crow). Even George Soros, as reviled as he is by the Right, doesn't move this blatantly or arrogantly. They use foundations or proxies to take the heat rather than personally put a target on their back by dominating the news cycle.

Unless this dude thinks he is escaping to Mars in four years he and the rest of the Silicon Valley billionaire class have basically trashed their image and have turned public opinion against them in a bad way. It's crazy how people used to like the Silicon Valley rich as the innocuous elites but now they've gone straight Hugo Dax.

X jacks up Premium+ prices by 37.5%, hits some markets harder

X is raising prices for its top-tier subscription service, Premium+, by 37.5% to $22 a month, marking the largest price increase since Elon Musk bought the platform in 2022.

The price hike will first affect U.S. users, going up from $16, effective December 21, according to a statement. Annual subscriptions have also climbed to $229 from $168.

X said it was “adjusting” the prices to support the experience it offers. Existing subscribers will be grandfathered into current rates until January 20.

International markets face similar increases, with prices for people in the European Union rising to €21 from €16 monthly. Canada will see Premium+ rates climb to $29 from $20.

Some markets are more impacted than most. X Premium+, which completely removes ads and adds other features, will cost users in Nigeria ₦34,000 monthly, up from ₦7,300. Users in Turkey, similarly, will have to pay ₺770 for the service, up from ₺300 currently.

The platform’s basic subscription tier will still cost $3 a month.
