9.4GB Twitter Data Leaked Online

Researchers at Cyber Press discovered a 9.4GB leaked Twitter user data containing nearly 200 million user data records. This leak, sourced from a Twitter database or scrape, represents one of the largest exposures of user data in recent times.

The leaked data includes email addresses, names, and Twitter account details, leaving users vulnerable to phishing attacks, identity theft, and social engineering schemes. Malicious actors can exploit this data to compromise further accounts and systems linked to the affected email addresses.

The Database was first reported on a well-known hacking forum for data leaks and breaches, where a user named “michupa” created a new account on July 7, 2024, to release the massive Twitter database exclusively. The data is divided into 10 files, each containing 1 GB of data, and is publicly available for download.

The Cyber Press Team has verified the accuracy of the email addresses for several of the listed Twitter profiles, but the complete data set has not yet been confirmed. The exact date of the breach is unknown, but it is believed to have occurred recently.

The Research found 10 files, each containing a substantial amount of data, specifically 1 GB. The unique names of the following identify these files.

In response to this leak, the Cyber Press Team strongly advises users and organizations to take immediate action to protect their accounts and data. Recommendations include:

  • Changing passwords and enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on Twitter accounts.
  • Being vigilant of suspicious emails or messages attempting to exploit the leaked information.
  • Monitoring accounts for any unusual activity and reporting incidents to Twitter support.
  • Review and strengthen data protection and security measures.
  • Conduct regular security audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Educate employees about the risks of phishing and social engineering attacks.

The Cyber Press Team has contacted Twitter to inform them of the data leak and is awaiting a response. This incident highlights the critical importance of robust cybersecurity practices and vigilance in the face of ongoing data breaches. Cyber Press will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information emerges.

The amount of pure racism and republican bullshyt that's constantly on my feed now is wild. My only "engagement" with racist shyt is when I see someone post a wild tweet on the Coli as an example of pure hate on twitter. Outside of that I'm not clicking this shyt yet I woke up today, opened twitter and the first thing I saw was a thread on black people being the main culprits behind Asian hate crimes lmao. Just pure nonsense that's been disproven before. Yesterday I kept seeing twitter accounts for republican congressmen (???) complaining that their latest voter suppression bill won't be signed by Biden.

The other thing I'm randomly seeing now is a flurry of pro-Drake profiles, all with a bluecheck, repeating the same shyt over and over. Usually something like "Family Matters is the best rap song of the year, sorry." I've certainly engaged more with those tweets since the Coli always posts delusional Drake fan shyt, or I'll click it to link it on the Coli or elsewhere. But I don't engage with that shyt nearly enough to justify constantly seeing it.

This was bound to happen by his a$$hole antics speeded up the process.

People have brand loyalty especially when it comes to cars. A life long Toyota/Lexus driver is almost always going to buy an electric vehicle from Toyota/Lexus same for all the other brands.

Dont even get me started on the loyalty of truck drivers. Chevy and Ford drivers are not trying to buy that ugly ass Cyber Truck.

It's not just brand loyalty, it's build quality. The average car driver doesn't give a shyt about going 0-60 in two seconds or being sold pipe dreams about fully automated driving, they just want to get from point A to point B without the car breaking down or a random part coming loose. Legacy manufacturers have been building vehicles competently for decades while Tesla keeps setting records for recalls and doing stupid shyt on the assembly line because their CEO doesn't know better.

Musk defeats ex-Twitter staff seeking $500m in severance

A US judge has dismissed a case brought by former Twitter staff, who had accused billionaire Elon Musk of unlawfully denying roughly $500m in severance payments owed to workers fired after his takeover of the company.

Judge Trina Thompson said the employees had not proven that their claims were protected by federal law.

The ruling is a win for Mr Musk, who purchased Twitter in 2022 and immediately set about making changes, including sacking thousands of staff.

The moves sparked multiple lawsuits from former staff and vendors, accusing the company of withholding payments that had been promised.

This complaint was filed in 2023 in a federal court in San Francisco by Courtney McMillian, the former "head of total rewards" at the social media site, which Mr Musk renamed X.

In the complaint, she said the firm had provided staff only one month's worth of pay as severance instead of the far more generous benefits, including at least two months of salary and contributions toward health insurance, that had been promised.

Mr Musk's team had urged the judge to reject the complaint, saying that America's Employee Retirement Income Security Act did not apply as claimed.

The act sets standards for private health and pension plans.

“We are disappointed in the ruling and considering our options for moving forward,” a spokesperson for Ms McMillian's team said.

Other cases, including one brought by former leaders of the company, are still working their way through the courts.

In her ruling, Judge Thompson gestured to those disputes, noting that workers might have opportunities elsewhere to prove their claims.

"The Court lacks jurisdiction. However, plaintiffs are not without recourse. Indeed, there are other cases brought against Twitter for the failure to pay wages or provide employee severance benefits during the same or overlapping period," she wrote.
