I still don't get the name change. Twitter brand is world wide and easily searchable. X has no value and confusing as fukk. His branding and marketing team is probably wants to jump out a window. Unless he plans on selling the Twitter brand to pay off debt, I just don't see it...

2. He's of the generation where letter X was considered to be really cool. They were followed by a generation that loved slapping letter Z on everything.
3. He was early in the Web/dot com space where they were enamored with short URLs.

For Musk it's a combination of all three but mostly the fukking idiot one. Google and Facebook both changed parent company names, since they're conglomerates with many IPs, but did not touch their brand, customer facing names.

This a$$hole on the other hand only has one brand and decided to turn it into a faux parent company. His goal is to create an American version of WeChat but instead of creating a payment system company, video company, streaming company and along with Twitter placing them under an X umbrella he just changed the name of Twitter
