So on-brand for him, and it is also dumb as fukk.

Twitter itself is surely a giant content moderation council, and is bound by a set of rules & regulations. if you break those rules then your posts are flagged, and that is then further moderated by whatever internal Twitter panels that currently exist.

By using the phrase ‘widely diverse viewpoints’ you are already playing to the wingnuts who seem to suggest that social media, and particularly Twitter, is some sort of leftie haven, and you are presumably just trying to lessen the blow-back when you release the lunatics and give them free-reign of the asylum.

It’s a disaster of an idea, and opens you up for so much more criticism. Surely you either have a mulligan for all, or you keep the bans in place.
“A twitter council with widely diverse viewpoints”

Tesla already lost a racism lawsuit, he has a well publicized distain for democrats and the n word was trending day one. Are we really supposed to believe he’s going to have a United Nations twitter council? :heh:

He could have just purchased parlor for a fraction of the price like Kanye did :mjlol:

It’s quite crazy how much of a car crash this is already.

The last couple of days have been a protracted version of the GOB Bluth ‘I‘ve made a huge mistake‘ gif.

Good to see he still has no idea what to do with Twitter. He's scrolling through his replies looking for ways to make it work :heh:

We've all had that person on the leadership team who loves to come up with ideas and assign resources to them and they never take flight because they're stupid.

That's going to be twitter. People working on dead end projects to satisfy his whim. Turnover going to be high and the platform is going to go to shyt unless he stops his involvement.

Absolutely right - I’m sure the stories that will come out in a few years will be hilarious. The first few weeks will spawn some absolutely god-awful ideas, and everyone will have to indulge the stupidity.

I saw something in the NYT or WP about his plans to raise revenue - just ridiculous, all of them. Fanciful numbers plucked out of thin air.

I pity the poor c*nts who have to try to curtail the excesses & whims of the world’s richest man with his new toy.

I think it starts with the idea that he overpaid by nearly 20bn for the company and people are unsure of how he gets that back without making massive cuts to the company.

Many people believe that cutting the workforce to levels to meet those goals may result in brininging back many of the problems that caused people to sour over twitter in the past.
Didn’t Elon get kicked out of PayPal because of technical errors? And I’m pretty sure the only reason Tesla is currently successful is due to government subsidies. Even bill hates had half $billion short position against Tesla. They were borderline bankrupt for years.

Elon only hates government subsidies when they are for other companies.

Investors kicked him out of his own startup, X.com, because he was 'inexperienced'. Then when X.com merged with another company, led by Peter Thiel, Musk came back as CEO of the newly branded PayPal. Musk wanted Windows software over Unix, which pissed off Thiel and made him leave, before tons of issues popped up and Musk's inability to make a legit business model, PayPal ousted Musk again from his position.

And that's when he got into SpaceX.

So as a Technology CEO, he got has ass thrown out twice for being incompetent.

Twitter was a dumpster fire before Elon took over. What he's talking about making it into it can never be because human beings are incapable of having a place where the masses can speak freely and meaningful debate can be had. What he's going to find out if he already doesn't know is many people aren't interested in free speech they're interested in giving their controversial or shytty hot takes with no consequences and they don't really wanna hear opposing viewpoints.

How soon is this acquisition going to crash and burn and major advertisers pull out of the platform?
It won't be long. Twitter was already doing the best it could given the fact that it's a user generated content site and a good portion of the users are disgusting human beings with shytty views. Now that he's incharge and idealizing it should be better than what it was yet still allow people to speak bullshyt it will descend into madness and advertisers will want none of it.
