That could be a Twitter killer, depending on what he means by that. I know with having my own forums in the past and modding a big business forum and competitors coming up with "you can only use your real name" that it doesn't work. For various reasons some people don't want to use their real name, stay private etc. Of course that opens itself to trolls and other shenanigans but you handle that with moderation.

So we'll see what "authenticating all humans" actually means and if he actually does that.

This is one thing that actually could be a good move. If you're going to allow misinformation then at least get rid of all the trolls and bots signal-boosting it. Lots of people won't want to push the bullshyt they're pushing under their own name.

That being said, a lot of the same bot factories will likely just pay eastern europeans and asians to "authenticate" and then run the same shyt under a "real" name.

Yeah, removing anonymity could be a big silver lining in this whole thing. Obviously the bot farms will find a way around it, but if the usual suspects want to call this a town square, let’s authenticate the real everyday users. Lets see if they are willing to talk that reckless shyt when it hiding behind usernames.

I know billionaires own our media but not sure as open as this. Elon is going to own Twitter and Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post a few years ago. I wonder what other major media outlet is next.
