The Deep State
Tyson has a BS in physics from Harvard, an MA in astronomy from Texas, an MPhil and PhD in astrophysics from Columbia, a three-year research postdoc at Princeton, and was employed as a staff scientist at Hayden before he became the director. He has 13 peer-reviewed publications in astronomy/astrophysics, including 5 of which for which he is first author. He has 10x more credentials than you need to be considered a scientist, and I respect his prolific science education work on top of that. There are few enough Black physicists out there that there's no need to diss anyone who has put in the work to succeed in the profession.

What I don't respect are his poorly informed opinions on social issues. Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins are even more highly respected scientists than Tyson, and they constantly put out stupid, ill-informed statements on social issues as well. (Sam Harris is a much less respected "scientist" than any of them and yet tries to trade off on bullshyt credentials to push sociopolitical nonsense as well.)
my nikka, I'm black. I've respected NDT before you were probably picking out college majors.

What I'm saying is that lately, he's become an annoying know it all far beyond his expertise.

Quit acting like a little wiki-whore when your fav gets called out for nut hugging

He said $12 billion so it’s post sale

He’s complaining about the FeD raising rates due to the debt Twitter has now
So he saddled the company in debt, has no way of paying and has effectively fast forwarded to critical, a situation, which though not great, was MANAGEABLE, before the sale.

Ridiculous. If only liability could extend to him for this bullshyt

Seems par for the course. Most of these guys are celebrities or superstars because of their success in one field and use that success to charge large speaking fees in un unrelated fields.

Those guys are no different then musk in that regard --You should listen to what I say because I'm very accomplished.

And your quote in defense of him ironically hits the same chords as his own:

He has 10x more credentials than you need to be considered a scientist, and I respect his prolific science education work on top of that. There are few enough Black physicists out there that there's no need to diss anyone who has put in the work to succeed in the profession.

People like him and Elon are abnormal

They are just mad mechanical and can't think or have nuance like other people

They literally are like Robots with no feelings

This guy. :snoop:

There are way too many scientists and tech guys who try to insert themselves into public debates with terribly half-assed opinions.

Government emission credits and tax benefits for EV purchases made EVs a “normal” thing and Elon didn’t even invent tesla.

And a couple of billionaires paying millions to fly into the upper atmosphere and back down for their leisure is not “inventing the future” it’s a waste of resources :mjlol:

Rockets and planes are some of the worst pollutants in the atmosphere. So he’s claiming to save the environment in one company and doing the opposite in the other. Not to mention the endless flights on his private jet :mjlol:

People like Neil literally spend their whole adult life studying one or two subjects to the point where they don’t have the time to indulge in anything else.

That’s why you rarely see them talk about anything outside of their expertise and when they do they make a complete ass out of themselves

Must getting embarrassed on his own platform by a Rando.

This man is out here arguing that the repetitive ads are an engineering issue and not a "Twitter ran out of ad stock because companies are running away from putting ads on Twitter due to Elon being a loudmouth neo-Nazi failson" issue. :martin:

The ad quality on Twitter is atrocious now. I can't remember the last legit company ad I saw. All I'm getting are "Find beautiful single Ukrainian women" ads and the shyt you see on the bottom of a Buzzfeed page.

my nikka, I'm black. I've respected NDT before you were probably picking out college majors.

What a weird insult to be so wrong on.

How can he be my "fav" when I've never even liked him?

I just don't see the need to disrespect his legitimate scientific background while we're hating on other things. I don't disrespect Ben Carson's medical accomplishments either. That plays right into THEIR narratives about Black men in science.

I completely agree with the first two paragraphs.

My quote in "defense" of him is simply saying that he's a legitimate scientist. Since I'm the one who called out his non-science shyt in the first place, it's not the same at all.

Exactly - that's why Tyson sounds so ignorant here.
