man i've been seeing the users switching to different mastodon instances over the past month and they are heady content creators. journalists, academics, researchers, game devs, info sec professionals. I even came across a profile of a texas house representative. I think the EU will lead the way in mastodon usage by government agencies and then other countries will follow.
it's gonna be hard because of mastodon design but once interesting news starts to really be sourced from users on there, that network effect will engage leading more users to use both site and then one.
