Id rather not. Gears 5, while the open environments were pretty, didnt hit like that. Gears campaigns are more fun as a linear experience

Not sure if serious but GTA is quite literally, an open world cover based shooter.

GTA is many things bruh one of which happens to include shooting from cover. Gears of War is literally only a cover shooter.

Came to post this same sentiment. I didn't care at all for the open world parts of Gears 5.

I loved the visuals of the mountains/desert and I liked a lot of the snow area but it doesn’t need to do that again. It’s just too much filler.

I always enjoyed the free-for-all playlist in Gears 5, and it's a no-brainer for teams.

i prefer the linear experience of the trilogy.

Am willing to be open to new ideas tho as Halo ODST is my favorite with its new mombasa segments.So If they can pull something like that im all in, but some wack RPG lite shyt will be a very very hard pass respectfully.

The movement doesn’t lend itself to open world traveling. Like others have said, it fits well within a linear or semi-linear experience unless they plan on scrapping the trademarked movement for something new.

Cliffy B even said he didn’t know where to with the franchise until he came up with flying locusts. I would’ve been fine with Gears 3 being the end but still getting on going support like TF2 or CSGO.

This new sequel should put more emphasis on team based tactics & puzzles, like you have to snipe weak spots on a boss before you go for big damage. Or you have to fight hordes to get to a switch and pull them in sequential order with a time limit.

Gears 4&5 were so got damn boring, they literally gave us a fukkin retread with Gundam.

EDIT: Oh yea Team Based executions should be a thing by now.
