none of those are specifically designed for emulation
Whats your point? I come across very few roms that dont play flawlessly on all of the devices i named

Didn't know there was R4 for 3DS. That's def good to know. I'm guessing SNES and GBA run better than this but I'd be curious to compare the others. You gotta buy an R4 card, It goes in the cartridge slot and has its own processor chip built in. You put the SD card into it and if you have Roms on there you can use SNES9X etc, Game Gear, Genesis etc. IDK if they have any 32-bit era emulation possible on 3DS.

Point is, some people might want a dedicated device. Why? One reason is that all the examples you listed require additional controls (unless you're willing to play SNES with a keyboard on laptop). I have an ipad, laptop, phone and I still want this device because I play old games a lot.
I thought a few of you might be interested in a niche handheld that plays your retro gaming collection. It's pretty affordable at $125 and comes with 512MB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. Check it out here:

If there's enough interest, I can post some more info and videos. I backed it for 135 today.
Uuuummmm.....Wii controller can be used on android devices and a wireless or wired 360 controller can be used for the laptop. Any other excuses?
If thats you then thats you. i just finished metroid fusion on my laptop and got the inkling to play it when i ride the train. i'm not gonna rock touch controls or carry around a bt pad with a phone on my lap tryna play on the train.Handheld gaming on device other than phone in 2013
You can jailbreak a psp and get the same thing. MIne has every nes, snes, genesis, neo geo, turbo graphics title on it. For free.
Son they got shyt like this and different variations to play emulators on smartphones..that's the definition of additional controls. youre agreeing with me. these arent excuses theyre reasons for certain types of people. you dont fit into that niche and thats fine.

honestly yall saying this is pointless is a lot like saying its pointless to own a dslr in 2013 because phones take picture too.

PhoneJoy - Bluetooth Game Controllers For Smartphones
I never had an issue playing SNES or Genesis games on my phone and not only that..I have thousands of games and a bunch of emulators on my OG Xbox and they run in 720p as well..
This can be used as well..
Your average android can play all of those games flawlessly via the droidemu app
and its free
They wont understand until they have one in their hands. Nothing beats a device specifically designed to do something. The PSP is ancient hardware compared to this AND a closed off system which does not allow the flexibility that linux offersY'all still getting it twisted. I'm not giving you reasons you should get one of these. It sounds like it's not for you. But to say it's pointless is as dumb as calling a DSLR pointless. Really, you suggest I carry around a DS3 and a holder for the phone. You think that's better? Also, android, as an OS, has inherent sound lag in emulating SNES and other consoles. If you don't notice it then great.
