Baz Lurhmann is garbage.

Yeah, Baz Luhrman is so tacky and over the top with everything that he'll probably exclude all of the subtleties and metaphors that make the book great and turn it into something campy.

The fukked up thing is Gatsby is a novel that shows how hollow the life of the rich was in the roaring 20s. Whereas it seems Luhrmann is going to celebrate the excess. He's completely missed the point of the novel.

With today's audience, in a way you have to be over the top. Django for instance wouldn't of received half the attention if it was more on a serious tip. Peoples attention spans isn't what it used to be. I mean they could of made the movie with less "effects", but then their target audience would be 40+.

I saw the commercial, and I thought the 3D effect and Jay-Z on the soundtrack will not make Gatsby so great:scusthov:

It's like how they try to 90s out Romeo and Juliet like a acid-trip rave flick, although now I appreciate the absurdity of it all :yeshrug:

I don't think it will go that way. In Romeo and Juliet he did a fantastic job of showing that world was pretty ugly underneath the beauty. His artistic sensibilities really lean towards gilded things.

Man that's the only reason I tried to watch. I kept wondering when it was gonna get better. It landed in the bushes after about 6 episodes.

That breaking bad, Game of thrones, are all snooze:snooze: fests but thats a discussion for another topic

Gatsby gets killed by a gas store owner at the end because he mistakenly thought Gatsby ran over his wife. The girl he was stunting for was the one who actually ran over the gas store owner's broad

I'm fukking pumped (I changed my avi a few weeks ago)

Joel Edgerton looks like he dominates the Tom Buchanan role
Leo is doing Leo things :leostare:
Toby Maguire is a good casting for Carraway
Daisy is a difficult character to cast, it looks like Mulligan does an OK job though
The only one I am worried about is Jordan Baker
