This is a good show, but the Shield shyts on it. In every way.

If it's that good, how does it compare to the Cable crime dramas? 1 of the reasons I ignored this show is because I needed to get into "The Shield" & I'm currently watching it now. Is this show as good as "The Shield"?

I just started that shyt a few days ago and im on the 10th episode of the 1st season of The Shield. So far, that show has NOTHING on this in any way, shape, or form. Im going to continue to watch cause nikkas on here says its one of the GOATS, but the acting has been horrible, the writing has not been very good, but there are some interesting storylines that makes me want to continue to watch (plus I really cant figure out whats Mackie's purpose. Dude seems like he cares about stopping crime but he is still a crooked cop, thats interesting to me). But I cant even say The Shield is a good show right now, especially not a GREAT one. The action has nothing on GR, the characters have nothing on GR, and the pace of the show has nothing on GR. Yall need to GTFOH propping up The Shield cause as far as 1st seasons, Gang Related is on a whole different level.

I'm currently watching the 3rd season of "The Shield" & the show definitely has a slow 1st season. Keep watching. The last 2 or 3 episodes of Season 1 are the best episodes of the season.

I kinda figured that. But if you were to compare 1st seasons only?????????? I have a hard time believing that you can honestly say The Shield's 1st season is anywhere near Gang Related's. Im sure The Shield will pick up as I continue to watch so I plan to finish all seasons over the next month or so. I also have a hard time adjusting to the cinematics of the show (I had forgot that this shyt started in the early 2000's, Shaq and Kobe were still on the Lakers in the storyline lol) and thats one of the main reasons I cant compare it to GR so far cause GR's cinematics are fukkin great.

Also how much does it hurt this show that it airs on FOX (on Friday Nights too) instead of sister network FX? None of the nikkas I follow on Twitter & None of the Black podcasts I listen to, talk about this show. They be talking about "Power" though.

the showrunner said they haven't even decided if Javier is dead or not

he said they would decide based on which storyline was best for season 2

Also to make not, Carlos was ORIGINALLY supposed to be dead in the pilot, he was supposed to be a one and done episode, but they liked the actor so much that they kept him for the entire season.

Fox has taken out “Gang Related,” confirming that creator Chris Morgan’s “Departed”-like action drama about a LAPD Gang Task Force member with personal connections to the neighborhood he covers will not be returning to its schedule.

The serialized drama premiered on May 22 with a multi-ethnic cast, but it never became a strong performer despite lead ins from established shows like “Hell’s Kitchen.”

Variety TV critic Brian Lowry wrote in his review that, “clearly deriving some of its narrative hooks from ‘The Godfather; saga, ‘Gang Related’ is a dense serial about loyalty and betrayal, but without enough redeeming qualities to offset its high quotient of ugliness and mayhem.”
