Javier was the most interesting character, I agree, but the most interesting character development was Daniel. And just like how Vito Corleone was the most interesting character in The Godfather, part II was on a whole different level. You cannot write this show off simply because Javier is now dead, especially with EVERYTHING that's left out in the open. From Daniel running the family to Carlo secretly regaining his legs, to Chapel beginning to learn about the truth about Ryan, the war with the Metas and a GANG of other loose ends that season two WILL be interesting to watch and be ignored.
You said the show needs a BOSS, I predict Daniel is going to be way more ruthless than Javier ever was. He showed signs of that as he was the one that lied to Daniel about who killed Jessica, he was the one that came up with the idea to use his own wedding as a front to hold a secret meeting with the Lords, and his turn is more cold and callus. Daniel is going to BE THAT DUDE next season. So, as much as Javier was that dude this season, no need to worry about it being a wrap because they killed him off.
Javier's plan probably WAS a long shot, but it was basically the only shot they had. It wasn't like it wasn't discussed, because Carlos stayed questioning it and was always undermined which definitely going to be addressed next season. But the idea had a GREAT chance of being pulled off had it not been for Ryan and the Metas being a step ahead when they found out they were set up. But, we would see how this will play out. We know that the Los Angelesioso gang are joined with the Lords, so their army is now doubled.
And I disagree on this being "another cop show" because they killed off Javier. The show's producers have now perfected their crafted in fucckery that it cannot even assume it to be something of a standard cop show as of now.
