No one is going to put their big budget games on a sub service. That's fukkin idiotic. Xbox only does it to try and get gamepass subs but it ain't working (gotten stagnant). And no 3rd party gonna do that shyt either.

For smaller studios and indies where the check is big enough to cover the budget and you get a small cut of revenue, it makes sense. :yeshrug:

You know how there’s anime about the anime industry? What if they made a video game about the video game industry?? :ohhh:

Interesting take. Makes you wonder what and who is gamepass bad for? Devs like it, gamers like it but for some reason it's going to run the industry and change how ganes are made. As if that isn't the natural order of things and it's not going to happen anyway.

This guy knows what he's doing. He isn't going to bite the hand that feeds, and is taking an extra step in defending his funder.

Nothing he said there is disputing reports of game sales being affected from being included in Game Pass.

He is just stating that in his [indie] situation, subscription services work. Games like his, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush and titles of similar scope may benefit from a subscription based service...especially when that service helps to foot the bill for development.

Its always that guy too, talking about the same game, Descenders lol

Theres a reason big companies aren’t jumping on the game pass model and its not because its so successful and makes Microsoft so much money. To even argue it at this point just feels tiresome

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the indie devs are taking gamepass money just to finish their games

Acting like there's one answer that applies to all games or publishers for Gamepass is fukking stupid.

The situation is unique for each game and publisher. The only straight up exceptions are large studio AAA games. Those likely need to launch with full price sales/pre-orders to eat into the development cost alone, let alone actually turning a profit.

Right.

“Let us not make an additional $500 million in year one by putting this blockbuster title on sub service Day 1”.

Makes no fukking sense.

God of war sold Ragnarok 11 million copies already, thats not including collectors editions,

At the very minimum thats 660 million dollars in revenue. But yes, putting it on a sub service would have been the smarter thing to do because sony could have gotten an additional 3 million subs for that month
