the worst thing in this is the fact that the first time we see aegon and rhaenyra speaking with one another is when she fukking dies
I hate to say it but I'd imagine David and Dan are laughing about this type of stuff. For all those bums' flaws if there's something they did well from beginning to end it was putting two characters in a scene where they had to interact beyond just spilling out plot points.

I didn't watch that leaked scene but from what ppl are describing...man this show is really trying and failing hard to make the greens sympathetic. A major problem is that most of these characters are getting little to no screen time, and certainly no development. Aemond is just the guy who stole a dragon from his cousins, started a fight, and later kept being a dikk to them. I get that there hasn't been much time to develop them and even Jaimie Lannister would seem like a bad guy to viewers in S1, but the lack of scene diversity for the greens is wild.

Definitively making Aegon a rapist was also a terrible decision. Ensures most people cannot fukk with him. Flip side people love the blacks unwavering. People don't even care or remember Daemon killed his first wife lol. I'd expect that to slowly shift a bit as time goes on. Specifically next season when Blood and Cheese happens.

Trying to make Alicent sympathetic, having her mishear a prophesy etc...come on. She wants the throne to protect her family. That should be good enough. And if her children were going to be portrayed as dikks to Rhae's children (which they were in the books, yes) the show could have at least done something to show them in different contexts outside of their rivalry. Having Aemond prevent Aegon from harassing a handmaiden for instance. Having a scene with Viserys actually being a dad to them, teaching them about diplomacy or being mindful of smallfolk. The show has been so focused on 3-4 characters that just about everything else has been undeveloped or ignored.
You’re looking at this green vs blacks from a very narrow perspective.

You don’t need sympathy to root for someone. That’s been a hallmark of this golden era of television since the Sopranos or the Shield.

Rhaenyra and Alicent are driving the bus so everyone is essentially a fragment of them. The reason scenes of Viserys raising his boys aren’t going to move the needle cause the tv show at least is taking the idea of Rhaenyra and Alicent’s rivalry infecting their boys.

Aemond looked directly at his mom when Viserys was questioning him about the slandering of the boys before naming Aegon and she in turn tried to repay the debt herself.

That’s why the show has been able to adapt the time jumps and still resonates to many viewers.

Aemond was sinister and very much in control of his dragon. I don’t like that switch up

Because dragons intimidate and she didn't know aemond would be there.
She did though. Otto told her all of the other houses would be receiving offers too. She listened to her goofy son, and only gave them directions to not fight, instead of just sending ravens or someone more experienced and less of an actual target.

He's 14 and a man in that world. He was a bad fever away from being Lord of Driftmark and commander of the largest fleet in Westeros. He literally started the episode thinking he was about to be the Lord of a Great house. This is the duty of people that age in this world. You step up and take charge. If he isn't old enough to secure a house that is a short flight away then what good will he do in actual war?

In the book, they mention that the realm still thinks of Jace and Luke as b*stards, but part of the reason they were sent as envoys is because it would allow the lords to see them on dragonback for the first time, to demonstrate that they are Targaryens. It does have an effect in the Vale, and might have had an effect on Borros too, if Aemond wasn't already there with the largest dragon.

On that note, no one had any idea Aemond would be there or would be reckless enough to kill an envoy under guest right. Not even Alicent or Otto thought Aemond would do such a thing while they were offering peace terms. They are furious with him when he returns with news that he killed Luke. Emotions got the better of him.

Anyone else thinks it was a bad idea to no even mention Daeron? Next season a random new son is gonna show up :mjlol:

With Aegon's third son I get it, not sure HBO is in any rush to show a toddler get torn appart.

The point was to remind the great lords they have dragons and at the same time honor them with the princes themselves as messengers instead of ravens, there's a reason why the greens did the exact same thing.

Thank you! I was thinking that rubbed me up the wrong way. I think it was a poor writing decision to switch it up.

The man dug up a dead body from the ocean and plucked both eyeballs out to give to his wife. He’s not a sympathetic figure, he’s a sociopath. Somehow worse than his counterpart Daemon

I agree with you for the most part but I think there should have been more tact than just intimidation. The Greens obviously have dragons too.
