Man, this episode brought back so many memories. Especially 7th and 8th grade 
Every interaction felt real and I had somebody like each character in my class from the girl w/the headache not working to the dude roasting the substitute teacher.
I knew dude was about to punched when he threw the yogurt on the bus
The way Earn was watching the clock and sprinted to the bus, that feeling of anxiety
Young Al stealing graphing calculators
, those weren't cheap though .
Actor who played young Earn, definitely had his cadence down

But yet another episode that doesn't push the arc forward. What's up with Van? Can they not afford her or something?
I wouldn't be surprised still if the season ended with them having to kill off one of the main characters. So much death this season. Most of this episode was covered in his albums though, felt like a repeat almost.

Glover is not that young. This episode I'm sure is supposed to take place 95-97 ish.

Man the latest ep brought back so many memories for me in middle school. My school was majority black and if u showed up with fake/wack shyt on you was gonna become a target for humilation.
Im glad The Fubu/Tommy Hillfilger era died when it did because it was just too much...too many ppl rocking it, too many bootleg versions, etc.
I remember when the jeans with the big Pocket on the side was popular and my mom copped me a pair from the used Clothing store...the baddest chick in the entire school noticed them and she started to like me.
Sad thing is...she overdosed off drugs a couple years ago
I legit started towhen breh made that announcement infront of the class that the kid killed himself.
I wonder if Earn still feels guilt for that to this day

One of my good friends bought some fake Lebrons on the internet for like $75 for her son. I tried to tell her those shyts were fake just based on the price alone. She's one of those types that lives check to check and is always falling for some scam. I knew the clowning was going to ensue when his sneaker heads peers got a look at them. I warned her older daughter to pull the boy to the side before he left for school and to not let him wear the "Lefons". She didn't want to listen.
Her son walked through the door after school traumatized. Ol' boy threw those shyts are far as he could in the field next door to his house. It took everything in my power to keep from laughing over the phone when she called me asking for advice on how to console her son.

They did a great job casting young Earn and Al
Young Earn especially. He was cast to the T. I'd be interested to see if he gets any future work from this.
Atlanta has put on some pretty good actors this season especially.
Suicide from bullying wasn't a thing back in the day..i did have 2 kids i went to elementary school with commit suicide in middle school within weeks of each other...shyt was crazy
Same here...the fact I could play ball and was up on sports as well on top of having hands saved me too...like majority of the time nikkas had jokes but I wouldn't be roasted crazyIf I wasn't good at sports back then IDK how I wouldn't have made it cause I was a capital N-E-R-D nerd
This5 days a week with no dress code.
the struggle of having a fly ass outfit or piece but you can't wear it too many times or nikkas will clown you for wearing the same shyt too much
...honestly as an adult now..i might look into having my future kids go to a school that has uniforms or a strict dress code. It will be for the best.

I love that the Asian Hypebeast had to be the one to verify. That shyt was so real. If it's a inner-city school, then the Asians that go there are most likely gonna be hypebeasts, at least that's how it was at my school.
The thing I found the most unrealistic was the fact that Devin didn't get the benefit of the doubt but Earn did. I remember kids like Devin. Spoiled, always had a fresh haircut while your shyt nappy, earrings and shyt, all the Jordans, always fresh. shyt wouldnt even been that much of a mystery, kids woulda automatically knew Earn was frauding.

Earn shyt wasn't fake but he definitely wasn't about to sacrifice what little rep he had for himself at school for the other kid

breh when i was watching this i was thinking to myself why hasnt anybody made a black version of freaks and geeksThis shyt could be a legit spinoff for people who grew up in this timeframe like me.

episode reminded me that i was a white kid growing up in a predominantly white town, and i almost bought a miami dolphins colorway Fubu jersey as a kid. like i remember having it in my hands. i wore plenty of corny shyt back in the day, but if i saw a picture of myself in that, it would be pure comedy.
Devin actually pointed that out at lunch time.
“He was like. I always got the newest Jordans. Earn be looking bummy as hell all the time!”
I think the reason Earn got the benefit was because he was one of those kids who kind of played the background. You knew OF him but he wasn’t memorable one way or the other. Him rocking the shirt seemed to be the first time the other kids actually acknowledged him.
