that was an amazing episode...shyt was hilarious to me...very odd and creepy...not straight forward like other episodes....last 2 were instant classics in my book. great season.

dude felt so much like Michael Jackson....weird soft spoken recluse who is obsessed with music...yeah he def had to be an inspiration....even dude who played the brother said it felt like someone who was robbed of their childhood....MJ.

What tripped me out was when teddy looked at the picture. Darius had his arms crossed over his face even though he didn't actually do that. I was :merchant:

Not sure what this symbolizes. Maybe that Darius himself is hiding something and doesn't want anybody to see under his mask:yeshrug:
as i was watching that part i took it like Teddy was some sort of serial killer who took pictures of his victims right before killing them and since Darius' face was covered in his pic he was gonna actually live..he may or may not have been that but i do think the symbolism is there with the picture.

kinda like in The Ring where all the people who saw the vid would have a blurred face in all pictures while everyone else looked normal...bad omen....in Darius' case this was a good one.

Rewatching for the 2nd time currently.

Brehs, did I miss the discussion on the fact that this opening scene was one of the greatest feints in TV history. Who the fukk here say they expected TEDDY PERKINS after the way he stunted on white supremacists with the hat?! :manny: He was getting the directions to the spot on a paper map :bryan:

yo... the scene with the 100 dollar bill where van said it likely wasn't 'cism. then the entire episode of earn having to endure through his chicks german heritage... the tribulations of dating mixed girls who may not "get it"... spoke to my life and relationships so personally :bryan:. show so trilll

i contrast those experiences to those i've had with lightskinned women w/ two black parents and none of those issues EVER came up :ahh:

love the nuance of the show's interactions

Gotta watch again but I don’t know if that is Benny in the wheelchair.

Teddy is Benny, there’s no reference to Teddy being young(er) or any interactions with his dad. Even when he’s watching his dad, it’s with Benny. And then when Darius says I understand Teddy responds in a manner that it’s more personal and sensitive.

Was mentioned earlier, agree with the theory that the guy in the wheelchair is either the father or his old self that he has tried killing in the hopes of satisfying his fathers desires.

The fact he was in the basement (true self/soul), hidden, just like the room for his father struck me. Then the gun being in the attic signifies the mental impact of his upbringing and fame.

Darius got robbed of his innocence. Him facing death was the only time we really saw emotional depth or some sort of adulthood.
This is the only “theory” that would make sense outside of the obvious (two different people).

It also brings the real meaning to the chalkboard (“TEDDY KILL US BOTH/GUN IN ATTIC”). The both didn’t include Darius.
