Star Wars Episode IX - Confirmed

After Lucasfilm parted ways with original director Colin Trevorrow, The Force Awakens helmer J.J. Abrams was brought on board to take charge of the movie as the studio clearly wanted the finale of this trilogy in the hands of someone they could trust. There have been a number of scripts written for this one but Abrams and Chris Terrio (Justice League) are responsible for the latest draft and it's set to be released next December. Chances are that we won't get a title reveal until early 2019, unfortunately.

Obi-Wan Kenobi - Cancelled

When Disney first announced plans for a series of Star Wars "Anthology" movies, excitement started building around the possibility of a spinoff for Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, clearly reeling from the fact that not even a Star Wars Story revolving around Han Solo connected with fans, Lucasfilm has backed off the project meaning that the years the Jedi Master spent on Tatooine will remain a mystery to us. As a result, director Stephen Daldry is no longer attached to take the helm of this which is a real shame.

Boba Fett - Cancelled

Josh Trank was originally set to direct the Boba Fett movie but that quickly changed when Fantastic Four was released in 2015 and quickly established itself as one of the worst superhero movies ever made. Since then, the spinoff has remained in development hell but things finally started looking up when we learned that Logan director James Mangold was in talks to direct this adventure for the bounty hunter. Infuriatingly, this is now one of the spinoffs which have been put on indefinite hold.

Rian Johnson's Trilogy - Confirmed

Well, this is going to upset a lot of fans! With J.J. Abrams looking to wrap Rey's story up with Episode IX, Lucasfilm is concentrating on the franchise's next trilogy and that will seemingly be the one from The Last Jedi helmer Rian Johnson. Very little is known about his plans aside from the fact these movies will put the spotlight on different characters in another era. That definitely has some potential but how moviegoers will react to a totally original approach to the series obviously remains to be seen.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' Star Wars Movie - Confirmed

Once work on Game of Thrones is completed, it's believed that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will immediately start cracking on with a "series" of Star Wars movies. As of right now, we don't know if that means we're getting two movies, three movies, or five but there's no way Lucasfilm will want to risk losing the directors given their work on the HBO series. What's going to be really interesting is seeing whether or not this franchise focuses on established or some completely new characters.

Yoda - Cancelled

Yoda was specifically mentioned as a character who could receive their own spinoff when Lucasfilm was acquired by Disney and there have been a number of hints that it's still happening ever since. Alas, the actor who voiced the character in The Clone Wars recently revealed that it's no longer in the works and even if he hadn't said that, this would obviously be among the spinoffs put on hold by Disney. It's not the end of the world, though, and at least we got to see the iconic Jedi again in The Last Jedi!

Jon Favreau's Star Wars TV Series - Confirmed

Disney is currently looking to compete with Netflix by launching its own streaming platform and a big draw for that is going to be a live-action Star Wars TV series. Iron Man and The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is in charge of the project and while it's unclear whether or not he'll be serving in that capacity here, his involvement is definitely exciting. The filmmaker has confirmed that the show takes place around the events of Return of the Jedi so this will be well worth checking out when it launches.

Star Wars Detours - Rumoured

This zany looking animated series was actually announced back in 2012 but it was seemingly scrapped when Disney bought Lucasfilm. Clearly, it didn't fit in with the ideas the studio had for the franchise moving forward but Seth Green has since revealed that the sketch show had 39 completed episodes, while an additional 60 scripts were also completed. Things may be changing for Star Wars Detours, though, as Disney recently filed a trademark for the show so it could be back in active development.

Star Wars Resistance - Confirmed

Now that Star Wars Rebels has concluded, Disney is moving the focus to another animated series. Resistance will focus on KazudaXiono, a young pilot recruited to help bring down The First Order and Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma will both be making an appearance in the Disney XD series (as will BB-8). A show like this taking place in the current trilogy's timeline is something very different to what we're used to and that should make it worth watching, especially as Rebels ending has left such a void.

Solo 2 - (Definitely) Cancelled

Apparently, had Solo: A Star Wars Story been a box office hit, Lucasfilm would have moved forward with a sequel. Seeing as the end of the movie sets the stage for that in a number of ways, it makes sense and seeing Han Solo cross paths with the likes of Jabba the Hutt and Darth Maul would have been great fun. Given the commercial performance of the first instalment, though, the chances of this ever actually happening are sadly somewhere between slim and none. What a waste, though, eh?

If there's any company that realizes the value of having a positive and trustworthy brand its Disney

The fans have lost trust in KK. You can't put a price on that.

These cancellations show that Lucasfilm is in defcon 4 creatively. They don't know what to do.

Scrapping new projects and reverting to damage control on your current projects is bad.

So many people have lost their jobs because KK doesn't know what she's doing. I still believe she will be fired and RJ won't get his own trilogy.

Dissapointed: the only non jedi/sith star wars film i wanted was a bounty hunter heist flick with boba fett, bossk, maybe even solo n chewbacca, and of course myself. Instead they give us only human characters with no juice when star wars was always fantastical.

Boba Fett and Obi-Wan should've been the spin-offs to make after Rogue One. :francis:

Hopefully, one of the planned trilogies is KOTR, it’s the shot of excitement the franchise needs at this point new worlds, origins of the Sith, Jedis galore and epic lightsaber battles.
Kotor won't get touched by mainstream star wars creators. Star wars is a produce made to be enjoyed by the casual film goer. Not sci-fi nerds. Kotor is out there

If they're afraid due to the lack of familar characters they could make Yoda a padawan in one of the sequels. There isn't anything too complicated in KOTR tbh the people generally know what a Jedi and what a Sith is knows the time to see the true origins of them.

It’s crazy..... I’ve seen in the past people to strengthen their argument use Collider as a source, then other come in laugh at it or dismiss it like other sites and YouTube channels.

But now people treating it as credible?:leon:

Moving along....... wow this is interesting :patrice:
