Wrong. The series had 2 leads. Both Vin and Paul were the main leads.

Also the series continued to top box office ever since fast 5. Obviously this movie got the paul walker death bump. But just going from history this was always gonna be the biggest fast movie ever in terms of ticket sales.

...and the founder of the Coli @Brooklynzson dapped that bullshyt :russ:

Firstly, director Rob Cohen handpicked Paul Walker as the lead, described as an 'appealing blond' (which was in the original script) undercover LAPD detective. Vin Diesel was cast as a supporting actor, which is why he wasn't in Singleton's sequel.
That’s the day filming began and cameras started rolling on Paul Walker, the appealing blond actor director Rob Cohen had cast in The Skulls, hitting moves behind the wheel of a tricked out green Mitsubishi Eclipse as undercover LAPD cop Brian O’Conner.

Secondly, the studio and actors have stated that the film's success was in fact due to Walker's death and the decision to conclude the franchise with the seventh installment.

Jordana Brewster told HuffPost Live, none of the cast members were sure they’d return to the franchise following the death. So far, Furious 7 has performed better than expected at the box office, becoming theFast and Furious film with the highest-grossing opening weekend and taking in the most dough of any film with an early Thursday premiere. Fast and Furious 8 seems like a sure thing, but Brewster is still unsure whether she would return as Mia. For now, she’s leaving it up to the fans. Diesel, on the other hand, has already begunteasing where the next installment will go. Though it’s not official yet, start prepping for some New York City street action.

Lmao a Vin Diesel stan? :mjlol: Now I've seen it all.

The major plot line of the story revolves around Brian O'Connor and his devolution from a cop/FBI agent to a member of the international car culture/criminal underworld. As another breh said, he's supposed to represent the audience. From the first movie where he's a cop trying to catch Vin's gang, to the second movie where he is working to catch Carter, (skip the third one), to the fourth one where he is now an FBI agent trying to catch the dude they think killed Letty (after he sent her undercover in the first place), to the fifth one where he is now full blown dark side in Brazil, to the sixth and seventh where we're now in heist franchise mode. O'Connor's story is the driving force of the franchise and has been since day one. The movies are going to be just noise and action without him.

Good job writing out brians sub plots.

Doesnt change the fact vin diesel is the star of the franchise.

Did you quote the wrong parts because literally niether of what you quoted backs up your statements.

So Rob cohen, you mean the guy who left the franchise to make xXx with vin diesel that made more money than ff1 or 2? Vin diesel wasnt in the sequel because he turned it down. You obviously cant be old enough to remember. And supporting actors dont get top billing.

And the second quote says it all. Shes leaving it in vin diesels hands to make the decision. Because hes the main driving force behind the franchise.

And vin already decided to keep going.

And why wouldnt 7 be the highest grossing when 4 had become the biggest, then 5 had, then 6 had. Its clearly a pattern.

nope, it's gonna be their daddy...liam...

:ohhh:

..........7 opened the door, didn't it??? Dom and the team can be on the CIA payroll as independent contractors. They turn the dial from street cats to official spies. They track down the folks nobody else can get. This shyt becomes the American Bond with a squad behind him. They should just take the numbers off now and hire somebody new to do the theme song for each new movie.

:wow:

You said diesel was a supporting cast member and thats why he wasnt a cast member In the 2nd.Its clear as day you have no idea what youre talking about.

All it takes is a quick google search to find that vin was rumoured to have been offered 20 million to return. That and him straight up saying he walked away because he thought the script sucked.

And no surprise 2f2f is widely considered the worst film in the franchise.

I've discussed China on here quite a bit. It's really changed the game for some of these blockbusters. We are going to see insane INSANE numbers. shyt, the last Transformers only did about $200M here but because of China the film still did over a billion worldwide.
What changed over there? We're they not allowed to go to the movies before 2013?

Theres a lot of factors in play but it comes down to Chinas economy growing at a rapid pace, more disposable income, theatres being built all over and more and more US films "pandering" to the market.

In 2012, Chinese box office grew 36% and grossed $2.7 billion U.S. dollars.[12] In 2013, the box office grew an additional 27% for a grand total of $3.6 billion. It was the first time an international market exceeded $3 billion in box office revenue. The second-highest box office market, Japan made $2.4 in the box office. This year, China is in pace to cross the $5 billion mark.[13]

Money talks and piracy walks. And while the legal minds of Hollywood continue to litigate against Chinese pirates[14], the major studios are sending as many films across the Pacific as possible. But what makes things complicated is that the state-run China Film Group, which limits the amount of foreign films released in China each year, controls their film industry.[15] Moreover, unlike the MPAA in the United States, the agency responsible for rating a film based on content, the China Film Group handpicks the content that it will permit to be shown in theaters. Thus, at the hands of the Chinese government, movie studios must acrobatically compete against each other for screen time while simultaneously censoring their films for the China Film Group.

Big-budget productions like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dean Man’s Chest felt the curse of Chinese Film Group’s censorship.[16] While the MPAA rated it a PG-13 in the United States, the Chinese Film Group had banned the film for its portrayal of human cannibalism.[17] And while the MPAA’s rating system is readily available, Chinese law does not require the Chinese Film Group to provide its criteria. Similarly, Paramount’s Mission: Impossible III was rated PG-13 by the MPAA, but Paramount had to cut scenes out for the Chinese version because the censors were insulted by the film’s Shanghai scenes that contained laundry hanging from washing lines and old people playing mahjong.[18] Hollywood does not survive a freedom-of-speech argument under the Communist Regime.

However, some studios have figured out the formula to ensure a Chinese release date: (1) cast Chinese celebrities; (2) film in China; (3) flood the flick with Chinese product placements; and (4) recruit a Chinese production company to co-produce.[19] Transformers: Age of Extinctionwent as far as plugging in the praised Communist Party by having a character proclaim, “We’ve got to call the central government for help.”[20] Similarly, the Chinese version of Iron Man 3 contained an additional four minutes of footage that was shot exclusively for the Chinese cut of the film.

While unconventional, the formula worked. Both Age of Extinction and Iron Man 3 shattered box office records upon their release. In just ten days, Age of Extinction grossed $46 million more than in the United States.[21]

And so, is this the death of pure American cinema? Will every summer blockbuster star Chinese actors? Will masterful screenplays go unproduced because they do not have international appeal?

With thirteen screens being built a day and 23,000 screens projected to be in operation by the end of 2014, it appears that China’s loosely governed piracy laws are trivial at best.[22] Perhaps Age of Extinction was correct after all; studios should continue calling the central government for help. All the pirates in the world could not stop Hollywood from sailing west. The lawless goldmine awaits.

I can't watch anymore of these fast movies fam :francis: the only reason I watched fast 7 was to give people a real opinion and not just saying it's the greatest movie ever because Paul Walker died (no disrespect) R.I.P. but that movie wasn't that good. :wow: I can only take so much of random stuff blowing up with buff dudes walking in slow motion with no real plot to the story :sas1:

China's Box Office expansion makes them one of the Biggest players with the U.S., Japan and Europe. "Transformers 4" was the first film to really break it wide open. "Furious 7" was co-produced by "ChinaFilmGroup" so they marketed the film well in China. I will be tracking Avengers 2 China Numbers, Jurassic World and Star Wars 7. We could be looking at 5 Billion dollar films and China will have a lot to do with it.
