Lets be real though,youre an idiot if you claim the only reason this movie made so much was because of walkers death. But youre also an idiot if you deny his death wasnt a factor.
Between the 3d release,chinas box office exploding and the movies naturally getting bigger this movie with paul walker still alive was most likely going to make around 1.3 billion.
Pauls death probably added 200 million to its take.
We will never know,but that seems about right to me.

Nah the 4th one was the highest grossing in the franchise when it release. People were amped to see the original cast back. I agree with this statement. I somewhat disagree with the numbers but like you say we will never know for sure.

Limited 3D release though. It wasn't available in 3D in North America. Which makes this even more impressive. Furious 7 crushed Avengers without the gimmicks

I will show you how Paul Walker was a bit of a draw for this franchise though. It's stupid to completely disregard his importance. Kind of like Arnold in Terminator (note that I am not comparing their popularity so miss me with that). I guarantee Terminator will make ten times more than Arnold's bullshyt movies he's been making lately because there are certain actors who the viewing public want to see in specific roles.
So lets look at the original. It made $207M at the box office on a relatively small budget. Big success. Most people attributed that success to Vin Diesel and maybe rightfully so.. but wait.. 2 Fast 2 Furious comes out and actually surpasses the original with $236M. Everyone knew Vin Diesel was not going to be in the movie. Paul Walker is the clear lead.
So now before you say "well.. then it's obviously the franchise or cars that sell it" Tokyo Drift comes out (no Paul Walker) and while it did make a decent amount ($158M), that is significantly less than 2 Fast 2 Furious.
See how this works. Certain actors fit specific roles and not just anyone will fill the void.
