Ive said it like ten times already but fukk it....

A whole generation grew up on these movies and geniunely love the characters. Each film has gotten bigger then the last. Theyve successfully combined the appeal of action movies with a racially diverse cast that has worldwide appeal. They film around the world that gives the movies a nice break from the repeated back drops of new york repeatedly.

As for this particular movie, this is the first one they released in 3D which raises the box office. China has exploded and added $350 million more on this one then ff6 raked in. And of course paul walkers death with one of the classiest send offs for a character and actor I've ever seen in any film. They literally couldnt have handled it any better.

While I agree with the bulk of what you said here (except the whole "growing up with them" part, as I think that's the most minor factor, if it even constitutes as one) and that it is a culmination of a number of factors, pretty much of which you listed, I'm sure the death of Paul Walker and it being known that this movie was going to be a send off for him is the biggest of all those factors. Had he not died, I doubt it'd in the Billion sector at all. Sure, it'd have still did well for the other factors, but I'm pretty sure it would've settled around 700+ mill or so.

Nah, the previous one did like 800 mill I think so a billi would've always been a safe bet for this movie, especially with the addition of Statham who is another actor (following The Rock) that plays right into this franchise's fanbase.

I thought it did 700 mill and also, before Walker's death, plenty of folks were on that "there's another one" tip when hearing of more, which I think was going to show signs of fatigue.
