This case is not as weak as we originally thought. We believed he was getting a misdemeanor charge for falsifying campaign records. Though it hasn't been unsealed I've seen numerous reports of it being a felony indictment. Meaning the DA believes they can reasonably prove that he was intentionally hiding the payments to prevent fallout during his campaign. That type of proof would almost certainly come from one or more cooperating witnesses within the Trump organization. So Cohen and his finance guy who was recently convicted.
