Bud meeting with the Knicks
Would they give us their pick?
Lottery pick? No way, maybe a 2nd.

Hopefully the porzingis situation scares him away so we can get 17 from Milwaukee. Either that or just ride it outBud meeting with the Knicks

Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk hasn’t ruled out Budenholzer remaining with the team, according to a person with knowledge of Schlenk’s plans. Budenholzer is under contract for two more seasons and about $14 million. The Hawks have told teams interested in hiring Budenholzer that they will require compensation, most likely draft picks, to release him from his contract.

We should at least tell em to swap picks next yearWhy would the Knicks give us a lottery pick for #19? A second round pick might be the best we could expect to get

And yes, they will dropped that #9 pick if they want Bud. Nothing else will do.
Bud is not leaving.
I keep telling you Bud ain't leaving, how many times do I got to say it before you get it through your brain that hes not leaving.Post the quote or else stop posting that. Schlenk and Bud both have not issued a formal statement on what's going on. Also Bud has only talked to one team (PHX) and was not offered a contract. We still don't know what compensation the Hawks are seeking because it hasn't got to that point yet
It's pretty clear that he is leaving...it's just a matter of finding the right team with the right compensation (I don't think a lottery pick is necessary to do this deal and I don't think it has to be a pick in this year's draft). This is a 3-5 year rebuild, Schlenk wants assets in the form of draft picks for years to come. If Schlenk could get a mid-late first rounder for Bud next year or the year after he's going to be open to making a deal

Steve Koonin: 'This draft has 10 NBA starters'
Travis plan is to rebuild with Bud. Not without him.
I don’t disagree but I think if Bud comes back it will have been worked out. Otherwise they would just cut him a check and tell him to kick rocks.A couple of things:
Steve Koonin is the Hawks CEO, not President, but in his role he literally oversees everything except basketball operations.
In this interview he said "it's a little bit difficult to talk about...if I had to handicap it I think this could be much ado about nothing. We'll see what happens but I'm very optimistic that good things are coming."
When asked if Bud interviewing with other teams means he's definitely leaving "I think that would be the wrong way to read things...it is unusual but there's a story and it'll come at the right time and everything's quite positive."
My take on this interview (which was done on Friday) is
1. There's something going on behind the scenes that the Hawks aren't willing to talk about on the record. These were very vague answers that Koonin gave
2. Get ready for the Hawks PR spin when/if Bud leaves. For the record I don't see a scenario where Bud comes back (coaches under contract don't go on job interviews with multiple teams only to return to their original team). But if Bud does come back, the distrust and commitment between him and the organization can't be ignored. I think it could have a toxic effect on the rest of the organization if he were to come back
Dont be that guy, you know what I meant when I said president, leadership. CEO, President, VP of bball ops, all leadership.A couple of things:
