Compensation for Bud

I'd be shocked they'd give up the #16 pick in the draft for Bud. Maybe we get a second rounder this yr or maybe we swap first rounders a few years from now (lottery protected). Also we lost leverage here already...keep in mind that we allowed Bud to interview with them because he still under contract. If we really wanted Bud here we would've shut that request down. From Phoenix's perspective why would I give up a 1st round pick for a coach y'all don't seem interested in keeping?

It's more likely Bud walks, we get a second round pick this year and Schlenk hires a coach from the Ker-GS coaching tree to recreate GS East

They've only allowed him to speak to PHX, no compensation has been approved (that we know of). Bud will still probably talk to at least MIL and maybe even a few other teams. This won't be resolved until at least mid May, but i would think Schlenk would want to hire a coach who fits his style.

So no to the Mark Jackson, Fizdale type coaches. I think we get a young unproven coach and let him grow with the team

It was never a good relationship to begin with. I think what you're seeing is both sides publically acknowledging that it's not working by the Hawks first allowing Bud to talk (which is significant) and Bud wanting to talk to another team no less than 2 days after the season ended.
