Schlek(sp) didn't hire Bud and GMs usually want to hire their guy. Bud prolly doesn't think he has the security he would like.

He can run the show all he wants he wasn't good at it here when he had that power. Suns just coming off a year where players were publicly shytting on the organization, I like where we're at compare to them. We have a good chance to get a star too, there's no true #1 pick in this draft.

It goes to show you that for Bud to want to leave let's you know he's not really on board with THIS team's direction. He has an owner in Ressler who didn't really know what he wanted until he hired Schlenk last summer. He chose a new guy with a new vision over Bud who has brought this franchise to new heights. I don't care who you are that kinda shyt hurts. The people who claimed it never mattered are disingenuous at best

But I want y'all to look at it from a different angle, we know now Bud has 2 years left. Let's say Bud does stay. He coaches out next yr with a likely lottery team. He would enter his final year with a team that hasn't done a lot of winning in a minimum of 2 years and basically be a lame duck coach. He goes from HC/President to being fired in 3 years

Y'all lookin at it strictly about the on court situation but the front office/management coaching situation is more significant IMO because this is why we have been unable to attract elite talent because of a perception that we don't have our shyt together in the front office. If Bud leaves it's the same shyt people have been saying about the Hawks

This shyt ALL went to hell because of that Ferry incident ... If that never happens with Ferry...

I think this shyt really goes back to Jan/Feb 2017 when Wilcox and Bud feuded about trading Millsap and breaking up last year's Hawks team. That was the first real fissure with this current owner. It uncovered that the team wasn't aligned on how best to move forward and that our owner didn't know what he wanted to do with the team.

But I think anytime you ask to talk to another team it's hard to see that coach come back...we all know what it is Bud, it's been real but i saw the writing on the wall last summer.

Without Bud, this could take a lot longer than normal. Not every coach is that good at player development

we have THIS off-season to finish a top 5 pick and good coach (fizz or Stackhouse ) also Schroder was buds guy. He's gone.

We'll see what happens but Bud asking to leave makes it clear that for all of the marketing, social media, arena upgrades and community service that the Hawks have done locally they still haven't built a team capable of competing for a championship. Bud possibly leaving really makes you question how big time FAs and agents will consider Atlanta. A new coach changes the math on all of our timelines for this franchise
