Most coaches would jump at the opportunity to coach Giannis. Wouldn’t even blame him if he dipped.

I wouldn't blame him either but if he's thinking about leaving who would we replace him with? This isn't an appealing job right now with a stripped down roster and few building blocks (Schroeder, Prince, Collins? Is there anybody else on this roster who is a must keep?). We're not getting a top tier coach anytime soon if Bud leaves

We're nowhere near being in a position to attract FAs. The Hawks had a hard time getting FAs when we were making the playoffs every year. Why would any superstar come here? Next year is another tank year, this team is at least 3-4 years from competing. We need to spend this summer getting prospects and developing our young guys, we're not going after big time FAs this summer

Like you’ve illustrated, this isn’t a desirable roster so I’m not expecting a really talented coach to come to Atlanta if Bud leaves. Usually rebuilding teams go the “player development coach” route so the Hawks might do the same.

Rebuilding was the right move but Schlenk has to nail these upcoming drafts. That’ll set the tone for the kind of talents this team can lure in.

I would just hate to lose Bud for nothing...it makes this rebuild even more unpredictable when arguably the best coach in Hawks history might be going elsewhere because he and the GM weren't/aren't on the same page

The fact that this got out is a bad look...especially when we know that the most important moment of this season is gonna involve ping pong balls

But it goes back to what I said before the season, we don't know what the Bud/Schlenk relationship is, we don't know how committed Bud is to a long term rebuild and I guarantee you Bud is still pissed about being demoted.

Now this could just be a rumor but where there's smoke there's fire. I wouldn't be shocked if Bud wants to GTFOH
