If your top 5/10 list includes friends then you really need to explore some more of what the medium has to offer.

It was corny to me growing up cuz I couldn't relate to it at all especially growing up in nyc where as Seinfeld felt a whole lot more authentic and relatable. But I see the mass appeal of it, very safe comedy, lots of lovable characters, and pretty funny time to time

How can you say Brooklyn 99 is the blandest comedy ever made when you had The Brady Bunch and Full House:mjlol:

Haven't seen them. Brooklyn 99 is the blandest one I've seen, definitely the most generic, safe comedy of this era at least.

I'm not saying that comedy needs to be offensive to be good, but it probably should offend somebody. Otherwise you know you're avoiding anything controversial, which is usually the biggest source for comedy. Making jokes about uncomfortable topics releases the anxiety people feel about them.

It's almost criminal how blatantly they ripped Living Single off. Living Single debuted in 1993, and Friends comes along a year later? lol Come on man. :skip:

yep

and its disappointing how this isn't getting much traction in this thread, considering that this is suppoed to be a hip-hop board.

Like many others have said, it was safe and influential. It didn't try anything crazy, but still has quotables. I wouldn't put it in top-10, but it's decent enough to have on the background. I always thought the early Rachel/Ross stuff was one of the better portrayals of a relationship in your mid-twenties. Especially now, that I'm in the same age as most of the characters were.

Is it on Netflix? I know it’s popular but I’ve never seen a single episode... I was more of a cartoon, Boy Meets World, Living Single, All That, Kenyan & Keo, Steve Harvey Show, Wayans, WWF/WCW etc type dude...

Granted I was like 8-9 in the late 90s so all I knew was what my fam and friends put me onto

I never got into Friends or Seinfield and both are regarded as classic shows. Outside of the shows I listed, only other shows I caught were older shows showing on Nick at Nite when I was suppose to be sleep
