Friends. Is it a top 5 or 10 show to you?

A while ago, I realized that it's the Full House of adult sitcoms. There were other sitcoms that did what it did better, and were funnier, but you can watch it any time and you don't need to think too hard about it. It's like a Billboard pop hit or McDonald's. It just makes you feel good. :ehh:

I give it a lot of props because of how iconic the characters are. The show has quotes for days and it was one of very few sitcoms that had story arcs and had the characters become different people as it went on. I actually believe that by the end of the show, the characters were all different people.

There's things I can't ignore that make it hard for me to put it up there with some all-time great sitcoms. If it wasn't for Living Single, the show wouldn't even exist. It took the same formula and was able to build an empire while some people know nothing about the show that came before it. I don't like how in the later seasons, the characters became a lot less likable and realistic. I don't like how sometimes, they would have these really stupid situations with no self-awareness of how stupid they were. And I don't like how much the Ross/Rachel shyt dominated the show. They should have put that to rest in season five and picked it back up in the last season if they really wanted to get them back together. :camby:

In terms of impact and influence, it's definitely a top five sitcom, but as far as quality goes, like I said before, it's more like Full House to me. :ld:

Ppl dont watch white sitcoms here...

Except seinfeld, married and children and arrested development. Those seem to pass the barometer of cool enough to watch.

Not true. I can name 20 white sitcoms better than Friends. It's so bad. So unrealistic. So stupid. I really really hate that show.

Well written and some of the strongest character development I've seen in a TV show. It got to the point where you can kinda predict character reactions and stuff. I don't know where I'd rate it, but it is most definitely a classic and deserves credit for being an OG powerhouse for my formative years.

Its kind of like Seinfeld for people with no guts. The most middle of the road TV show imaginable (apart from Brooklyn 99 which is the blandest, safest comedy ever made).

That being said, the show is solidly entertaining. I think the performances from Schwimmer, Kudrow and others made the show, otherwise it would be very forgettable.
How can you say Brooklyn 99 is the blandest comedy ever made when you had The Brady Bunch and Full House:mjlol:

Walk around New York City for 10 years and never encounter a single black person frehs

:mjpls:This show and “How I met your mother” sitcoms based in “NY” 19 seasons between both shows and prob 2 black people showed up on both shows, i think Ross dated a black chick and was a recurring character, Aisha Tyler. And HIMYM i think there was a black chick that was a college roomate of one.

Thats 2 black people in 19 seasons of “popular” tv. SMH no Puerto Ricans,Dominicans maybe one or 2 asians, maybe one arab.

I like himym more than friends. It did have a point. We can all agree that Robin wanted to be a ho and they let her. My favorite episode is the naked man episode where she effed a dude simply because he got naked
