College should be damn near free if not completely free.
I worked for yrs at a french company where most of my coworkers were french nationals who graduated with no debt from french colleges.
it wasn't 100% free for the best schools, maybe community college prices. But dudes would join with masters degrees in stem with no debt (the french government actually has a program where they PAY companies to hire french ppl overseas (VIE program) ). This is a country with hella minorities and immigrants, alot of the french dudes were black actually. our country is just dumb as fukk

at the bare minimum the country needs to think about making loans defaultable under bankruptcy. that may cause colleges to stabilize tuition if there is possibility ppl would just bail on the debt

So what? This irrational apprehension of taxes is what's stopping this country from being phenomenal. You pay higher taxes but you can go to college debt free, which in turn can help net you into a high paying career. That's a damn good tradeoff.

crazy thing bout it we already pay a ton of taxes (well at least i do). I don't mind paying even more if it meant more safety nets and higher standard of living for all which in turn would raise my own standard of living. More educated, healthy people in my community raises the quality of my community and probably decreases crime by a order of magnitude. shyt ain't rocket science. College shouldn't be free, no such thing as free, that's more taxes on the middle class because someone has to pay the faculty.

What they really need to do is lower tuition like it was in the 70s and 80s. Folks worked a summer job and that was enough to pay for classes. It's all a scheme really. The government is getting paid some of the profits these colleges make.

People also forget that there's already grants and scholarships out there you don't have to pay back. How many students are applying for these grants and scholarships? My professor told us year after year how there's so many scholarships left on the table because no one is applying for them.

As is they’re going out their ways to tell people they are available.

Because STEM grads have no problem paying off their loans, matter of fact they qualify for most scholarships seeing as they make good grades.

Liberal Arts majors are the ones complaining. They graduate with they trash degree and can only get a job paying $30k/year.
