College shouldn't be free, no such thing as free, that's more taxes on the middle class because someone has to pay the faculty.

What they really need to do is lower tuition like it was in the 70s and 80s. Folks worked a summer job and that was enough to pay for classes. It's all a scheme really. The government is getting paid some of the profits these colleges make.

People also forget that there's already grants and scholarships out there you don't have to pay back. How many students are applying for these grants and scholarships? My professor told us year after year how there's so many scholarships left on the table because no one is applying for them.

Imagine being mad that people would like to have a FREE education :hhh:

Something Everyone should have the opportunity to get.
Imagine folk saying don't vote because these people would get us closer to reparations when they don't even want to help poor white folk let alone black folk :skip:

So what?:what: This irrational apprehension of taxes is what's stopping this country from being phenomenal. You pay higher taxes but you can go to college debt free, which in turn can help net you into a high paying career. That's a damn good tradeoff.

Let's be real. This is mainly because of blacks. I've always said that if it wasn't for blacks, this nation would have universal health care a long time ago. "Free" college would help out a lot of people, but it would also help blacks, and that's what people like her are afraid of.

Here comes the Feelings>>Logic discussion:comeon: Who's going to pay the Professors, Assistant Professors, Guidance Counselors, Janitors, Cafeteria workers & the numerous Student jobs?:jbhmm::jbhmm:

My suggestion is to bring back cheaper tuition rates similar to the 70s and 80s, where a summer job could pay for everything. Not sure how that is neg worthy.:ld:

I don't mind paying a few extra hundred dollars in taxes a year for kids to be able to get a free higher education. If you're middle class in America you can afford it.

So you want to take hard working folks money. The Middle Class is already shrinking, a lot of small businesses lost during Covid, and you tryna tax more? What do you mean so what? It's my money and I have the choice to whether to pay for your bullshyt degree or not. :manny:

Misallocation of scholarships and grants are not the issue here.

The issues are: (1) the predatory loan system; (2) the lack of loan forgiveness; (3) incredibly low wages and; (4) the exploitation of faculty and subsequent tuition hikes for private schooling.

All for-profit schools need to be shut down. They siphon off billions, target low-income students, students of color (particularly Black students) and veterans, - saddling them with debt without providing real education. The loan system should not have an interest rate above 2% - period. Wages should have been raised decades ago, but they've floundered in most areas even as productivity has continued to skyrocket - making it harder for living expenses to be covered, let alone debt payments. And yes, tuition is too high, particularly at schools that add useless amenities to their campus. No college needs a wave pool, or amusement park activities - they need to ensure they cover every student's housing and can pay the adjunct and part-time faculty a fair and livable wage.

The US loses billions on tax breaks for billionaires and corporations, and pisses away hundreds of billions more on useless "defense" technology and capital to Israel.

Those are the obvious targets for funding - not "the middle class."

You're parroting some right-wing talking points.

You can afford an extra $300 a month, many others can't because they have bills and kids to feed. How many small businesses did we lose during the past 8 months?

Your other problem is you think the system will work. Sure pay $300 extra now. Give them an inch, they'll take a mile isn't just a saying.
