The sad thing is...if Vito would of known that his youngest son would end up killing his brother just to defend a crime family power structure, he would be disappointed and disgusted to no end.
Not really, Fredo had a hand in the Michael assisination plot first. Mike even warned him about his disloyal behavior, keeps him around and he still hangs out and gives family info to the Hyman Roth clique. Truly, Fukk Fredo! :pacspit:
Fredo was nice to Mike's son, otherwise he showed no redeeming qualities. He was only about the fun parts of gangster life fukkin' bytches and getting treated like somebody, none of the hard work or cunning that supplies it.

Not just this, he brought the enemy to the Corleone home. So Vito's daughter in law and more importantly grandkids could've hit strays.

I truly think Vito would be :scust: at Mike for killing his brother but also :hubie:at Mike for protecting his family.

He might've cut personal ties with him but Mike had a legit reason as a Don and as a family man to take Fredo out. Vito, a man who kept Luca Brasi on deck, would've understood this.

I don't think he was retarded, but he was "off". He was like most "losers" in that he probably got a bad start in life, which left him with a bad self image, which caused him to act stupid and flaky, so other people treated him as such and things just spiraled from there.

What we see in the movies is the end result of decades of anxiety, self-hate, jealousy and humiliation. It didn't help that he probably always compared himself to the other males of his family: Sonny was very manly, brash and decisive. Michael was very smart and the golden boy in his father's eyes. And Vito himself was like a living god.

Seeing Vito treat Tom Hagen like a better son mustve wrecked him on the inside.

The thing is...this crime shyt isn't really supposed to be above family for Vito Corleone. Vito was forced into it because he had to fight back after how his mother/father/brother were murdered.

As The Rock said, Fredo should have "known his role, and shut his mouth."

If Fredo was a braniac, he could have tag-teamed with Tom Hagen to run the legit stuff like a champ. He wanted to be a gangsta but didn't have a great quality to lean on. Sonny was tough and decisive while Mike was cold-blooded and extremely intelligent. Wonder if Fredo's daddy was the milkman? Frankly Fredo and Connie were kinda :stopitslime:.

Why do y'all think Vito would not have approved the Fredo hit?

With how shyt played out, it wasn't uncalled for. If you banish him there's a chance somebody might get to him and use him against you

Vito would have never given Fredo a chance to fail or fukk him over. He would have given him something wayyyyyy easier than messing with Moe Greene and trying to manage casino's in Vegas. Vito knew how to handle people better than Michael. He had that personal touch that Mike lacked....which is why Vito always seemed kinder and warmer than Mike. They had the same level of smarts and tactical skill but Vito wrapped that shyt up in a cannoli while Mike wrapped it up in barbed wire.

I didn't think that Fredo wanted to kill Michael. Maybe I misunderstood that part. At least he got to bang cocktail waitresses two at a time.

Mike should've let him run the horse stables. :skip:
