A: I need to learn more about Lambo. I don't hardly know anything except that his name is dropped all the time by Freddie. :jbhmm:

B: Still so tragic what happened to Nipsey :mjcry:

C: I need to listen to Royce's Allegory again. I liked it, but is it on your top 5 of the year? :ohhh:
Lambo discovered Freddie. Did you manage to read the story by Archie Bonkers a few months back? Basically Lambo was an intern at Universal and found Freddie. Lambo lost his job and Freddie got dropped. I feel like there's an interview with Freddie that breaks it down (maybe Freddies first Rap Radar interview?) But they just never gave up. Never had any major label backing.

I been a Nipsey fan since 2010 I even went to his show in 2014 after he dropped Mailbox Money. That XXL Freshman Class of 2010 was full of innovative artists on the music tip. Nipsey showed so much growth as a man its a damn shame he went out like that.

Top 5 is a tough one:jbhmm:

Based off what I've listened to the most:

Fred - Alfredo
Conway - From King To a God
Benny - Burden of Proof
Ty Money - Cinco De Money 5
Tsu Surf - MYSKM

This is actually really tough I really liked Jay Elecs album a lot especially the way it was sequenced I gotta listen to it again

There's a bonus joint or two dropping with this as well.

I hope Al announces a pre-order for the standard black. With Lulu he waited a day or so and then announced a pre-order on the black, so there's a chance.

I really just want the instrumentals. I don't care that much for doubling up on the main album if there's only one bonus joint. Someone will leak the bonus track whether it's digital or not. I want those beats though.

I also like Bandana more. Length is an issue. :dame: Bandana is 10 minutes longer (45 mins). I know the short album trend is in full swing, but 45 mins really is that sweet spot for a full length.

Also, I wish Gibbs did here what he did on Bandana; he let Madlib choose the beats for him to rap on. The only beat Alc pushed on Gibbs here was Skinny Suge. Gibbs picked the rest on his own.

:hubie: That's hardly a knock on Gibbs. Gibbs did pick good beats. But producers are producers for a reason, and I always like it when rappers let producers put the full plate together for the meal. Boldy James didn't pick any beats for Tea in China and it came out more cohesive than Alfredo or Lulu.

I actually am really loving the short album trend. I’d rather be left wanting more than suffering through 3-4 filler tracks because the artist felt like they HAD to add more tracks. Nas, Black Thought, Freddie, Jay Electronica, And Common have all dropped albums that clock in under 40 mins and they’ve all been amongst my favorites of the year.

If I had to choose between short album or filler I'd always choose short album. Bandana just happens to be one that I thought was not short and also didn't have filler.

I rememeber that Freshman 2010 class vividly. Seeing Nipsey get a Grammy nomination then Gibbs is unreal to me I feel like a proud dad watching his kids make it :dead:

I just need K.R.I.T. to get the respect and acclaim he deserve and my cypher will be complete :wow:

I feel like they're both in their own respective worlds at this point in their careers. Both of them are pretty cerebral about the constructs of their project. Could be they just havent found the time or the "track" that would make sense (you know rappers fav line lol). Would be a tragedy to never get anything else from them though cuz they killed that shyt.

Man Baby $hit suddenly completely clicked for me and now I'm playing it nonstop
After Skinny Suge it’s probably my favorite on the album. It reminds me a lot of Situations off Bandana. Not exactly, but if you start rapping Situations over it, it fits.

shyt sounds LOVELY in the whip. :wow:
It really does.
